Bigilla /bᵻˈɡɪlə/ is the Maltese answer to hummus, made with broad beans instead of chickpeas. I’ve been to Malta twice and must have eaten it there, but if I ever knew the word, I had forgotten it, and only discovered it (or rediscovered it) when it was added to the OED last December. Debbie Embler and Tim Lodge guessed it, and Johnny Barrs knew it already.

The most popular definition was Shani Naylor’s edible Australian grub, which scored a natural 7 in a convincing win. Grub’s up! 🤢and Debbie says she voted for it because she was hungry. À chacun son goût.

Runner-up was Tim Lodge, who scored 2 + 4 = 6*.
