All, at 24 hours before the original deadline, I had received 4 submissions, one DQ and one dead ringer for the real definition. I have little option but to start over. I truly had no idea that it was so commonly known that an alerion is an old word for a mythical bird believed to have no feet.

The replacement word for the new round is: 

COURIL

It's a heraldic term for a baby eagle or eaglet, which are shown as eagles without claws or beaks, so that's probably where people have heard of it before.
