I have thirteen definitions of OSARI for you to choose from:

1

In Ancient Greece, a girdle used to hold up the skirts of the dress for freedom of action; on occasions of solemnity, as sacrifices or funerals, the girdle was relaxed, and the folds of the dress allowed to hang to the feet.

2

[Japanese.] The concept of being stable or fulfilled in life.

3

A decorative stitch pattern used in hand embroidery to mimic the appearance of braided cord.

4

A felt-lined leather bag used by Mongolian herders to carry fermented mare’s milk.

5

A fine, wind-deposited silt or loess, distinguished by its unique capacity to retain moisture and its characteristic dark-red hue.

6

A genus of fungi that only grow underground, sometimes to significant size.

7

A heaven-like realm visited as a stage of death and rebirth.

8

A liana of tropical jungles that exhibits seasonality by losing all its leaves around the equinoxes and then regains leaves, flowers and fruits over the next six months, allowing fruiting seasons twice a year. Named from Osiris lord of life and death.

9

A type of sari traditionally associated with Sinhalese women of Sri Lanka, draped by wrapping around the waist, creating a distinctive frill around the midriff, and pinning the end over the left shoulder.

10

A small, high-interest loan.

11

A sumo move in which a competitor grasps his opponent’s mawashi at the right hip with his left hand while pushing the opponent’s chest with his right hand, to twist the opponent to his left out of the dohyo.

12

The traditional 16th-century style of Japanese castle, with some stone but built mostly of wood.

13

A traditional robe worn by a Shinto priest.

Please vote for two, by the deadline, which is Thursday 21 August at 10h30 CEST (countdown timer here: ⏱️), or a bit over 41 hours from time of posting. Early closing will apply as usual.

No clue here! I'll reward the authors of the following with my votes:

1. In Ancient Greece, a girdle used to hold up the skirts of the dress for freedom of action; on occasions of solemnity, as sacrifices or funerals, the girdle was relaxed, and the folds of the dress allowed to hang to the feet.

and

13

A traditional robe worn by a Shinto priest.

Oops! I goofed! Am I allowed to change my vote? If so, I'd prefer 1 and 9. If not...oh, well. I read the list too fast and missed #9.

Voted twice once...but as a correction, not as a second vote. As for being a Republican, you probably know me better than that. <G>

Of course you can change your vote. Rules against voting twice are for secret ballots that make no provision to take the first vote back.

It could be Japanese,which narrows it down to four defs. I'll  vote for 11 and 13, so it's undoubtedly one of the other two.

11. A sumo move in which a competitor grasps his opponent’s mawashi at the right hip with his left hand while pushing the opponent’s chest with his right hand, to twist the opponent to his left out of the dohyo.

13. A traditional robe worn by a Shinto priest.

I also lean toward Japanese. I'll try 2 and 13, thus ensuring that it will be 11 or 12.

It sounds conceptual to me, so I'll be fooled by 2 and 7:

FYI, I just now got the "moderator spam notification" for John Barrs' vote last round.  It was sent Wed, 20 Aug 2025 08:04:26 (UTC).  I think our longstanding policy is to count votes "postmarked on time" retroactively in the results.

The reason it went to the moderation queue is that it did not have SPF information and failed DMARC checks:
X-Original-Authentication-Results: gmr-mx.google.com;
       dkim=pass header.i=@john-barrs-co-uk.20230601.gappssmtp.com header.s=20230601 header.b=oAAoqaA6;
       spf=none (google.com: jo...@john-barrs.co.uk does not designate permitted sender hosts) smtp.mailfrom=jo...@john-barrs.co.uk;
       dmarc=fail (p=QUARANTINE sp=QUARANTINE dis=QUARANTINE) header.from=john-barrs.co.uk;
       dara=pass header.i=@googlegroups.com

John, I'd love to work with you to get your custom domain records updated to avoid this problem in the future.  I've had to go through this process for a few of my domains and it's a one-time fix.
