At long last, this round draws to a conclusion. (I certainly hope so!) Because of the looong deadlines this time, a lot of you submitted defs: 13 in all.

The real def was #10, guessed by three players. Mike Shefler's correct guess on the first vote (!) made me fear another D11. But I earned just D3. This time.

Mike's noun/verb regarding millet -- and his vote for the real def -- gave him an unnatural 5 to make him the winner and next dealer.  Hugo Kornelis' natural 4 for the old woman makes him the runner up. Paul Keating's own rock plus his vote for the correct rock, give him an unnatural 4.

Fingers crossed for no tallying errors, but confidently expecting some,
I am your former dealer,
Nancy

Second place? Wow! That is rare for me! I had seen a few votes come in (I thought I was at 3, not 4) so I was already quite happy. I had not expected this.
(And for the record, def #10 was on my shortlist of three, so I was awfully close to actually winning!!)

For the record, the German word Greisen does mean "very old" or "old person". It is related to the Dutch word "grijs" (note that ij and ei are different spellings for the same sound), which means gray.

Paul, you can imagine my chuckle when you openly speculated that I was at zero votes. (Although given my track record, it usually is a safe bet LOL)

Cheers,
Hugo
