Today, Clay Humphries, a retired Montgomery attorney, donated High Voltage, a 1983 C27 Tall Rig.  Clay's father owned her since the 80s.  Clay's mother dated Euell Screws at the University of Alabama.  Some of you may remember that High Voltage was a frequent entry when we had joint regattas with Stillwaters in the 90s.
The boat got her name after her mast arced to the power line just west of the old DSC base.  A DSC member who witnessed the incident told Clay's father that the power line arced rather than actually impacting the line.  APC subsequently raised the line, and then raised it once more when a tornado recently destroyed the north suspension tower.  That's how she was renamed High Voltage.  After the incident, she spent a year or so being repaired at Turner Marine on Dog River.
The DSCYP is not interested in increasing our boat inventory.  I'll spend some time clearing out any personal items and conducting a casual survey.
Key facts - Roller reefing Genoa, extra sails, 10 hp 2-cycle Evinrude with controls in the cockpit, tiller steered.  She came to DSC on her own power.  Her interior layout has settees on both sides of the cabin, that is, no dinette.  After the survey, I'll have more details.  Clay sailed her from his cabin on Claytons Lane, so she is in better condition than other marginally derelict donated boats.  She has a two-axle trailer; in fact, Bobby's C27 is currently on this trailer.  She is temporarily in Scott's wet slip on the north end of Dock A.
Our introductory price of a $5,000 donation to DSCYP is good for August.  If you are interested, or if you know someone of good character who might be interested, please spread the word.  As usual, the sales price will be discounted for the DSC Initiation Fee when the buyer joins DSC.
