FYI. Please note the funding available for geographers at MSIs to subsidize attendance at the leadership workshop.  Contact me at pso...@aag.org if interested.

Subject: Two AAG workshops of interest in June, 2012: Department Leadership & Early Career

Colleagues:

Registration has begun for two summer workshops that may be of interest to your members: the AAG Department Leadership Workshop and the Geography Faculty Development Alliance Workshop, both scheduled for June in Boulder, Colorado.

The Department Leadership Workshop will convene 13-16 June and is for all geographers interested in improving their programs--chairs, deans, associate chairs, academic advisers, provosts and other administrators, as well as all faculty interested in leadership issues. The workshop is particularly well suited for individuals who will soon assume leadership positions and would like to network with other chairs and leaders.

The Geography Faculty Development Alliance Workshop is for early career faculty and graduate students.  It will be held 10-16 June in Boulder at the University of Colorado.  If you have recently hired new faculty, this workshop is an excellent opportunity to help them get a strong start in your program.  Graduate students and faculty from all institutions and departments are invited to attend.

Please see the attached flyers for additional information.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions about either workshop.

Best, Ken
