Job Posting Title: Assistant Professor
Job Summary: The Department of Geography in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment to begin August 23, 2014. This is a 9-month position. We seek candidates with a record of research productivity, external funding, effective teaching, professional service and public engagement. We seek an individual whose work will capitalize on one or more of the department’s existing strengths in geographic information science, environmental studies, climate, and economic, population, and cultural geography. We see opportunities for further strengthening our program in several areas including GIScience; human-environment interactions focusing on health, the environment, and hazards; environmental justice; critical geographies; qualitative methodologies; and human rights. The Geography Department (geography.uconn.edu) has 14 faculty (six hired in the last six years) and is poised to expand further as the University of Connecticut consolidates its position as the best public university in New England and one of the top 20 public universities nationwide through investment provided by the Next Generation Connecticut Plan (http://uconn.edu/nextgenct/).
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geography or a related discipline by August 23, 2014.
Preferred Qualifications: A record of research productivity, external funding, effective teaching, professional service and public engagement.
