Hi everyone,
I think Agile 2010 was a big success for our Women in Agile project. We had a super location to show the videos - sometimes we were even able to show them on the big screen in the OpenJam. Not that people stood around and watched them - but they came and talked to me or whoever was at the table, and some took the handout that had the websites on it. Phil Brock promised to put links to our site and our video site on the Agile Alliance site. We were in such a central location, everyone walked by, some people even wrote ideas on our flipcharts (see attached).
We had an OpenJam session on Wednesday at lunchtime, with myself plus: Maria Marellotto and Carol Conn from Verizon, Abby Fitchner ("HackerChick", from Microsoft), Noura Abbas (PhD from Syria via the UK), Eveliina Vuolli (Nokia Siemens, Finland), and Mary Poppendieck joined for the last 10 minutes. It was so interesting, there were good ideas - please see the attached stream-of-consciousness notes. (I have a few photos too, but in the interest of not making this too big, I won't attach them).
Llewellen Falco is involved with Digigirls (not sure how that is spelled) and was interested in maybe working together on something. There were other outreach ideas too. Anyone up for making any of the contacts in the notes or the flip charts?
And for icing on the cake, Elisabeth Hendrickson and Liz Keogh won the Pask Award. Finally! (I've nominated Elisabeth before; I didn't know Liz until Agile 2009. I didn't nominate anyone this year, I gave up).
That's my quick report, I'm sure I'll think of more later. I'd love it if those of you who also 'manned' the table at the conference would share your experiences. Rachel said she had a lot of interesting conversations - I've copied her on this because I don't think she's already in our group. Rachel Davies helped me get the table set up and worked the table the first morning, and had good ideas like the flip charts (I don't know if she is in our group?) I don't know who turned up to help Wednesday after 3 (I had to leave) or today, or if anyone will be there Friday - but I think many people at the conference are at least now aware of our project. It was also in the program, which is really great.
I'd like to get all the videos we have up, and the audio interview also. Mike has been doing all this work - Mike, please let me know what I can do to help get the rest of the videos and the audio on Vimeo. Also, we have more women to interview, and I got more names of people who would be good to interview including someone from the Ukraine.
Thanks,
Lisa
