Dear members,
A lot has happened since our last update: the Tasmanian Combined Clubs trip was a great success; our mid-year "Under the Sea" party got a little out of hand (as we expected and hoped it would); and there were a host of weekend trips for those daring enough to brave the Winter waters.

A big thank you to all members who helped make the first Semester of 2014 such an enjoyable one. Particular thanks to our international student members who have sadly left us to return home - you'll always be a part of the Dive La Trobe family!
That of course leaves us with the start of Semester 2, which is just around the corner. There are a number of upcoming events that offer us the opportunity to introduce more divers to our club and build upon the success and awesome experiences we've already had this year. As you are all aware, our club does not function without the time and energy of volunteers. Events
- Our first welcome event of Semester 2 will take place on July 21st at the Western Lecture Theatre between 12-1pm. This will be followed by the La Trobe Sports and Clubs BBQ, scheduled for July 29th between 12-2pm in the Agora. These two events again offer us the opportunity to advertise Dive La Trobe to the larger University community, especially new students, and welcome new faces to our club. Volunteers for each day are needed and will be greatly appreciated!
- Following the two welcome events we will be hosting a free "come-n-try" evening at the Boat Shed and Sports Centre pool on Thursday the 31st from 6pm. If you know a friend or family member who wishes to try SCUBA diving, this will be the perfect introduction as we take the uninitiated underwater for their first breaths with an instructor. Volunteers are also needed for this evening.
- The 2014 Dive La Trobe Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday the 24th of July starting at 6.30pm at the Boat Shed. Elections will be held for the following positions – President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Nominations for these positions may be submitted to in...@divelatrobe.org.au and close at 6.30pm on the 17th of July. If you are unable to attend the AGM, you may submit a proxy vote. The proxy form can be found in our constitution, which can be downloaded from our website, www.divelatrobe.org.au.
- A reminder to all current La Trobe students that our club is again facilitating the "Student Volunteers Award". This award allows students to log hours assisting a club and in turn receive recognition on their academic transcript -something many people took advantage of last year. As there's no limit to how many students can apply we encourage everyone to sign-up. Please email in...@divelatrobe.org.au to register.
