Dear members,
Welcome to 2015 and what's sure to be another great year under the water with Dive La Trobe!
The club has now re-opened, with equipment hire available to all members from 6pm each Thursday at the Boatshed. Membership renewals are due March 1st and may be arranged at one of our club evenings. You can find full details of our membership types and costs here -
http://divelatrobe.org.au/about-us/membership/.
I must also (reluctantly) report that David Gallant, our Vice-President of the past 2 years, has decided to step aside from his position. Dave has held the Vice-Presidency throughout a period of great change for Dive La Trobe, completing work behind the scenes to aid our growth. He has also been very much in front of the scenes, assisting on various Open Water Diver courses and helping to organise a number of our social events, including the very successful Trivia Night. For anyone wearing a Dive La Trobe hoodie, you have Dave to thank for that!
Rest assured, he is not disappearing and will still be back rolling from the boat and blowing bubbles in the pool on a Thursday night. On behalf of the Dive La Trobe Committee, Portfolio Holders and members, I would like to thank Dave for his time and energy in helping our club become what it is - it's very much appreciated!
Courses
- We have a PADI Advanced Diver course scheduled to begin February 19th. This is a great opportunity for any Open Water Divers wishing to descend past the 18m mark! The course places an emphasis on the development of important dive skills, such as underwater navigation and fine tuning of buoyancy. Please email
in...@divelatrobe.org.au to register your interest and check out
http://divelatrobe.org.au/courses/ for more information.
Events
- We are in the process of scheduling a full calendar of both social and diving events for Semester 1. Keep an eye on the Facebook page and
http://divelatrobe.org.au/about-us/club-events/ for full details of our participation in Clean-Up Australia Day and LTU O-Week.
As always, check out the Facebook page (
www.facebook.com/divelatrobe) and website (
www.divelatrobe.org.au) for all other upcoming events and news, and email
in...@divelatrobe.org.au if you have any questions.
Until next time - keep safe and keep diving!
