Has anyone experienced problems running the DVA toolbar in a trial
version of Rhino 4.0 SR9? Two of my students have installed the Diva
toolbar properly, and are able to load a weather file, but when they
select the nodes button, one received an error and cannot proceed,
while the other cannot select a surface. Any suggestions? I'm
running Rhino 4.0 SR8 with an older version of DIVA and have never
experienced any problems.

Hi,

not being able to select a surface might mean that it is either a) a mesh or b) a polysurface, neither of which DIVA accepts as node input surfaces.
I've had people running DIVA on Rhino trial versions, so I think the "error on nodes button click" calamity has other reasons, probably the dreaded permissions / admin rights issue. You need admin rights on the machine to run DIVA, as well has having installed Rhino as the user who actually uses it. Windows' 7 user account control might also be the culprit; set a lower security level on that. I'm also forwarding you a fix description done by an acquaintance.

Hope this helps & kind regards,

Max

I've just sent this to my students and will let you know if this
solves the problem.

Thanks!
