> How can I edit or add materials?

Dear Mate,

The short answer is that DIVA dynamically loads all of its available
materials from a .rad file stored here:
C:\Radiance\GSD_Rhino\resources\material.rad

We provide a little more information in the materials dialog which you
can access by clicking "Hide / Show Help Information." I paste the
relevant parts below:

The pull down menu is linked to a file with a number of Radiance
material descriptions in it called the Radiance material library. The
library is loaded from the <a href="C:\Radiance\GSD_Rhino\resources\"
target="_blank" title="Go to your resources folder which contains the
materials.rad file.">C:\Radiance\GSD_Rhino\resources\material.rad</a>
file.

Information on adding or editing your own materials can be found in <a
href="http://radsite.lbl.gov/radiance/refer/ray.html#Materials"
target="_blank">LBL's Radiance Reference Manual</a>.

Best,
Alstan

First of all, thank you very much for a quick response. I have more
questions as listed below:
- Which editor should I use? (Notepad saves an edited file as .txt.)
- Can I add more materials to material.rad?

I just found out that I could use notepad to edit the *.rad file, but
I need to overwrite the existing file. Before doing that, I created a
copy of the *.rad file to back it up.

To answer your second question, as many materials as is desired can be
added to the materials.rad file.
