OnSeptember 22, 2020, we announced availability of the new Outlook for Mac to Current Channel users beginning in version 16.42. For more information, refer to our Tech Community blog post. Unless otherwise noted, features and fixes listed are for the new Outlook.

MIP: We have resolved an issue where Outlook for Mac users were able to modify the sensitivity label inherited from replied messages, even if they did not have the necessary permissions to change the label.

Connection State: We will start showing a popover when user hover the account state icon. This provide users with sign-in option in the popover view when the account has authentication issues. This will also show users if Outlook is in offline mode.

We are excited to announce that in the Beta channel, the local folders aka On My Computer is now available in the New Mac Outlook. This feature is available from build 16.68.22112202 (16.68.1122.0) and newer. You can start the local data migration either from File > Import On My Computer data or by accessing the On My Computer folder and clicking on Import Now button. We would love for you to try Local data migration and share your experience with us. Please report any issues and feedback via Help > Contact Support. Note: Local PDLs will be available when we support PDL in the app.

Setup: Fixed an issue where users were getting error error ''Another account from your organization is already signed in on this device. Please try again with a different account.'' when adding an account in legacy Outlook.

Advanced search prompt: Added an advanced search prompt at the end of the search message list results so that users could narrow down the search query if the results returned is not what they are looking for.

Fundamental: We will show an alert to users if Outlook cannot get access to the file while attaching it to the mail. This potentially happens if Outlook gets updated in the background and needs to restart.

Reminders: Now you have options to choose between Outlook or macOS notification reminder style. You can change this settings from Outlook > Preferences > Notification and Sound > Event Reminder Style.

Reactions: Thumbs up, laugh, heart, celebrate, surprise, or shed a tear in reaction to emails in Outlook. Apply your sentiment and see the reaction of others in emails in Outlook without sending or receiving incremental emails.

Now open online Office documents directly in Office apps installed on the device. You can enable this open from Outlook > Preferences > Composing. The option is under Format section "Open files in Office apps for Mac whenever possible".

Calendar: Move or copy appointments between accounts or folders by dragging and dropping to move, or Option+ dragging and dropping to copy. (Note: The ability to duplicate events on the same calendar is coming soon)

Online Archive: Online Archive is now available in the sidebar. Users can either manually move messages from the primary mailbox to Online Archive mailbox or use retention policies or rules to archive messages automatically.

Reset Account: If you are having syncing issues with an email account that is setup in your Outlook, you can try resetting the account. This is available in "Rearrange accounts" button under Tools > Accounts.

Search No Results Improvement: If to: and from: filters on the user query results in a no-result scenario, then to help the user find the email they are looking for, we convert the query to a Keyword search.
