Xboxhas a history of showing off some of our favorite indies during its big showcases, and it looks like it's keeping that tradition alive and well. During the platform's Summer Game Fest event today, we got our first glimpse at a new project from Limbo and Inside lead designer Jeppe Carlsen.

Cocoon, published by Annapurna Interactive, which has a showcase of its own next month, promises to be a mind-bending experience with an undeniably compelling art style. The creators promise to take players "on an adventure across worlds within worlds," which are represented by a series of unusual glowing orbs in the trailer. The clip begins with a sweeping and stylized view of a desert landscape which is soon disturbed by a blinding beam of white light. Our hero pops out of a mechanical-looking cocoon energized by the laser and appears to be a kind of beetle. We mostly see it grabbing and distributing globes of various colors, which may allow it to jump to different locations.

Cocoon is set to release on Xbox consoles (via Game Pass), Switch, and PC sometime in 2023. The trailer's description indicates fans should get ready to "master world-leaping mechanics to unravel a cosmic mystery."

The world of the photobook roughly divides into two camps. The first sees the photobook as a container for photographs whose purpose it is to showcase them. The second sees the photobook as a fully fledged medium in its own right that goes beyond what photographs on their own can do.

A little important production detail: note the hinged construction at the spine. This construction allows the spine of the text block to arch when the book is opened. Consequently, the book is easier to open, and the spine is less likely to crack (because there is less stress on it).

I suspect that especially the wrapping of the photographs around the pages will cause much griping in the most conservative parts of an already pretty conservative photoland. Purists will insist on the sanctity of the photographs, claiming the device makes it impossible to see them. I would argue that the exact opposite is the case: not only does the production of In Limbo elevate the work out of that vast ocean of photojournalistic sameness, it also potentially opens up new audiences.

For sure, it had me engage with the work a lot more deeply. If this had been some generic photojournalistic book, I probably would have looked through it once. Here, I found myself coming back to the book because there is more to discover than a collection of photographic facts.

With every New Year comes an artist that are about to ignite a firestorm across the nation. And every year we look forward to seeing those artists showcase their unique talents at the annual Canadian Music Week. Thanks to Universal Music Canada, we got an exclusive sneak peek at the musicians who have sparked a gush-fest with music critics, and should be on your playlist for 2015.

As Power Girl adopts the secret identity of Karen Starr to better fit in on Earth, Brain Wave uses a computer to transport Keystone City into a limbo dimension. Allowing herself to be captured, Power Girl fights back at Brain Wave and is eventually able to defeat him and use her newfound computer knowledge to restore Keystone City to its proper location!

Everyone knows this feeling. The one when you expect a result. You may be looking for a position while working a job or even have a recent contract that has ended and are now looking for your next quest.

I am the second one, but now I have become a bit of both. The company I did a contract for has requested me back to do some very casual graphic design work until I find something else. Hey, what a fantastic opportunity! This at least shows the impact my work has made.

I had one bite with a design job. I got past the second stage and to the design stage and then crickets. I have another bit where they sent me a little personality quiz for me today before a design stage. The company seems interesting.

We received an overwhelming response to the position, which makes us feel both humble and proud that so many talented individuals (like you!) want to join our team. This volume of responses makes for an extremely competitive selection process. Although your background is impressive, we regret to inform you that we have decided to pursue other candidates for the position at this time.

Thank you for your application to the Design Studio for the position. After reviewing your background and experience, we've made the decision to not move forward at this time. I hope you don't mind if we reach out to you in the future when a position opens up that may be a good fit.

These are 2 examples of some messages I received back from companies. Some were genuine and started like I may be getting close to getting it, then became incredibly disappointing. I can say though, the first one at least allowed me to get feedback and they were lovely people.

In my last article, I discussed whether I could get my dream job. This was prompted by an interesting video on YouTube by the YouTube channel "Answers in Progress." The video was all about the hiring process and how hard it is. specifically speaks about rejection. It touches upon the applicant filters and why writing is so hard.

From what I can tell so far, this article is more of a complaint about rejection from an Australian. It might be so. However, we know it is difficult. I would like to start a conversation about this.

Job Hunting Limbo is the name of the article. Are you in it as well? Let's take a look. Are you caught in a loop of rejected applications? If so, you're probably in job hunting limbo. Before my last job, I spent about 9 months in job limbo. I'm back in it now. In the end, it's more about what you do with the time in between. A potential employer might ask this. Other than job searching, what do I do? Currently, I'm sharing my ideas through articles. I'm learning new skills on Skillshare. Right now, I'm learning how to use Blender. I have dabbled in programming languages like C++ and Unreal Engine and have taken courses in social media marketing. Quite the schedule. However, for the sake of mental health, I play video games and continue to do art. I am also very casually doing some graphic design work on the side too.

Job Hunting Limbo is a time that is quite taxing, but it always has that feeling of potential and hope for each day. If it stays like that, the longer it goes on, the more it can become a sad and depressing time. I only hope something will come up for me soon.

So I've been playing on this modded server with some friends. We've never had any problems/bugs on the server. I ended up logging off for the night and the following morning I was stuck in limbo. I can see torches and stuff like that but it looks like I'm stuck in space. I've tried reinstalling vintage story and deleting all mods but no luck. Everyone else on the server isn't having any problem's its just me. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it if not don't worry about it.

Yeah I tried doing that and I'm still stuck in an empty space. It's odd cause no one else on the server is experiencing this problem. I tried deleting all my mods, fresh install of the game but no luck still.

This is quite unfortunate.... I have experienced this (or very similar crash) at least a dozen times and every time moving away from the chunk fixes the glitch. Have you tried teleporting away with "/tp"? Also there might be a hint what's wrong somewhere in the log files (mine are in [drive]:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\VintagestoryData\Logs)...

Yeah it sucks. I'll try the tp command and see if that does anything. I've tried single player and It works perfectly fine so I have no clue what to do. I sent a message on the vintage story discord in hopes of getting some help but if not I might just stop playing for a few cause we've put so much work into it. I checked the log files and I really don't know what I should be looking for but I'll take the time to look through everything. Thank you for trying to help though I really appreciate it.

The /tp command doesn't work. I've tried doing it multiple times but no luck. Just tried out the other command you mentioned but still having the same issue. No idea where to go from here it's hella frustrating. Thank you for trying though its appreciated.

Jeppe Carlsen was one of the gameplay designers behind Inside and Limbo, so when we learned he was the lead creator on a new upcoming game, it felt safe to be squeamish. However, Cocoon is actually quite a pleasant looking adventure with a very interesting art style to boot. It was shown during the Xbox showcase and gave us a look at some world-bending, dimensional, and colorful puzzle mechanics.

Cocoon is set to come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2023. It will also be part of Xbox Game Pass. With that in mind, it seems those that have Xbox Game Pass will be able to enjoy the game at no extra charge.

Smithson died in 1973, at a time when artists were just beginning to dream up the possibilities of computational art. Before home video or the smartphone, before we got used to falling asleep with laptops in our laps, only to wake up, hours later, with them falling on our faces. Before Covid.

In Brazil, there is no need for threats, even less for fear of beauty. Institutions, museums, films, memory, and bodies burn each and every day. From criminal oversight, from despair; we burn and are burnt. In the past ten years, we have witnessed at least eight institutions with collections of inestimable cultural or scientific value, burn down, some of them, with fewer than ten years of existence and with architectural investments worth millions (Museum of the Portuguese Language); others, with valuable collections that had been amassed over two hundred years (National Museum). As I am writing this, the Museum of Natural History, based at the University of Minas Gerais, has also suffered an irreparable loss.
