Hi All,

I’m facing a strange problem in DITA-OT 3.1. One of my users is using DITA-OT 3.1 with their CMS environment. When they tried to publish my plug-in, DITA-OT fails in gen-list processing with following message.

[gen-list] Processing file:/C:/InfoShare/DataDocCMS/PublishingService/Data/DataExports/GUID-CBA6B8E2-F7D7-4E97-8E81-493EE111346E.2526877.20180801020425801/1/ja-JP/workset/GUID-146ED552-CD0F-4105-BCA0-F0DC296E36A1.xml

C:\InfoShare\AppDocCMS\Utilities\DITA-OT\Acme-3.1-wordml\plugins\org.dita.base\build_preprocess.xml:62: Failed to run pipeline: null

Total time: 3 seconds

I’ve received the same map and topic from user and tested in my desktop PC and handheld PC. The result was always fine. I could get the publication results normally. Following is the excerpt from my build log:

In both side we use JRE 10.0.1 for DITA-OT 3.1. The CMS publishing engine sets ANT_OPTS as: ANT_OPTS="-Xmx4096m -Xss20m  -Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=net.sf.saxon.TransformerFactoryImpl"

In my environment I usually invoke ant from oXygen scenario by setting -Xmx512m as Java option.

Are there any possible problems in CMS publication build setting that causes above error? If you have an idea abut why the build failure happened, please let me know.

Regards,

Hi Toshihiko,

Maybe you can run ant with the "-verbose" flag, there seems to be a Java NullPointerException thrown somewhere and maybe we can get a stack trace for it

Hi Radu,

Thank you for your suggestion. However it is difficult to debug CMS server environment because it exists in user network and unaccessible from me.

I've debugged in my local PC environment and found that commenting following line from [DITA-OT]/startcmd.bat produces same phenomenon:

REM set CLASSPATH=%DITA_DIR%lib\dost-configuration.jar;%CLASSPATH%

Probably something is wrong with server DITA-OT configuration.

Hi Toshihiko,

You are probably right although the problem could be something completely different which issues the same error message.
Ideally most people should in time migrate to using the "dita.bat" and "dita" executables instead of composing the necessary class path in their own scripts.

Radu
