This probably isn't the right forum, but I've looked everywhere and can't figure this out on my own or with Google's help.

I was on a Windows machine, using Oxygen 16.1 and the Apache FOP for PDF output. My fonts used Avenir Light and Medium. No problems. I switched to a Mac OS X Yosemite, and the Avenir set is included as a .ttc. Even though I've installed the OTF fonts, when I generate the  PDF my system uses Avenir fonts that it chooses. It chooses Book and Heavy, which is not what I want.

Finally, to the question. How do I get the FOP to let me select which fonts within the .ttc to use?  I didn't see anything in fop.xconf that looked like I could do that.  Can anyone point me in the right direction? Please and thank you.

Hi JoAnne,

I'm not sure if this help but this Apache FOP Fonts topic:

http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/1.1/fonts.html

states at some point:

Alternatively, the individual sub-fonts of a TrueType Collections can be selected using the "sub-font" attribute on the "font" element. That means that generating an XML font metrics file for TrueType collections is not necessary anymore.....

and then it shows an example of how the TTC font would be referenced in the fop.xconf and how a subfont would be chosed from it.

Regards,
Radu
