Hello,

There is a requirement to generate XML files from the DITA topics and feed the output to Eclipse-based products. It will be used as context-sensitive help. So far, i have not found a way to generate XML from DITA. Can somebody help?

Hi Syed,

DITA is XML. Probably by XML you want to mean XHTML.
You can publish DITA to Eclipse Help, there is a default output format for it:

Hi Radu,

To give you a brief context, we had been using CS help specialization plugin to write and transform CS help content to XML. Attached are the original source and output. When generating the output, an XSL is used provide correct XML.

We want to do away with all types of specializations now and adopt OASIS and DITA-OT. Attached is the migrated CS help source. We are not allowed to use that XSL. Maybe we have to create another XSL, but it would be good to know if there are other ways to get similar structure as in the original output.

Hi Syed,

The DITA Open Toolkit's support for DITA to Eclipse Help output does not automatically build the contexts XML file, at some point I added an issue for this but it was not solved:

Looking at previous conversations, you seem to use Oxygen XML Editor, you can open a DITA map in the DITA Maps Manager view, click the "Configure Transformation Scenarios" toolbar button and choose the predefined "DITA Map Eclipse Help" transformation scenario to build Eclipse Help which should also generate the contexts.xml file.

Regards,
Radu
