A video, shared by various verified handles, triggered false communal narratives, prompting responses from right-wing figures and media outlets.
Ranchi Police, in response to the viral video, emphasised the routine nature of drone surveillance for procession routes. They rebuked sensational headlines and reaffirmed that there was no communal or conspiracy angle to the incident. The police also urged news outlets to refrain from spreading baseless sensationalism.
SP Chandan Kumar Singh of Ranchi Police underscored the administrative nature of drone monitoring and reiterated that the exercise had no communal implications. Both Hindu and Muslim building owners were instructed to remove construction materials from rooftops. Additionally, Ranchi Police have been actively sharing updates on security measures for Ram Navami to ensure public safety.
A police official said that the clash started at 2 p.m. when regular police personnel restrained around 2,000 Sahayak Police, who were agitating for their demand of absorption in regular police service since July 2 at the Morabadi ground, after they started running towards the CM House, violating the prohibitory order of the district administration.
The Lalpur Police team of Ranchi Jharkhand has arrested eight individuals, including the
leader, for running an IPL betting and online gambling racket in the capital. The group had
rented apartments to conduct their illegal activities.
Other Seized Items include one country-made pistol, four laptops, 28 mobile phones, 12 SIMcards, one swipe machine, 114 ATM cards, 12 passbooks, 50 chequebooks, one Jio WiFi
device, one printer, one motorcycle, one scooter, one car, multiple Aadhaar and PAN cards,
gold chains and silver chains and few other pieces of jewelry.
The police continue to investigate and anticipate further developments in the case.
A video of a drone footage of building rooftops shot by Ranchi Police is being shared on social media with a false and communal claim that the footage showed Muslim houses kept stones on rooftops to attack Ram Navami processions in Ranchi on the day of the festival.
BOOM spoke to Ranchi Police who denied the viral claim stating that there is no communal angle to the incident. The police further added that bricks on rooftops were for construction related activity and the building owners who were sent notices comprised of both Hindus and Muslims.
Ram Navami falls on April 17, 2024 this year, with security arrangement in place, as several instances of communal clashes were reported last year in March 2023. In the viral video, officials can be seen carrying out a drone surveillance of building rooftops.
The nine seconds video was posted by verified X handle Arun Pudur, with the caption, "Outrageous! Ranchi police, while using drones to survey tomorrow's Ram Navami procession route, found ten homes stocked with large quantities of stones on their roofs. During Eid not a single Hindu attacked Muslims, but Muslims are attacking every Hindu festival."
Right-wing YouTuber Ajeet Bharti quoted a post with the same video with the caption in Hindi when translated reads, "These poor, persecuted Muslims are collecting stones to protect themselves from the disturbance caused by DJ music on Ramnavami. How nice."
NBT Bihar also reported on the video with the caption on X when translated reads, "Jharkhand police exposed a big conspiracy with the help of drone! Before Ram Navami, stones were found on the roofs of 10 houses in Ranchi city under drone surveillance, notice issued to all house owners"
BOOM found that the there is no communal angle to the incident and reached out to Ranchi Police who denied the viral claim stating that the building owners who were sent notices compromised of both Hindus and Muslims. Ranchi Police further clarified that the stones found were for construction related activity.

The second post by Ranchi Police when translated reads, "The house owners were called. Such a notice was given to the house owners in Ranchi district also. There is no communal or conspiracy dimension in this. It is not legal for any news channel to run sensational news like *exposing a conspiracy* without any solid basis."
Ranchi Police had posted on April 16, 2024, with the caption in Hindi when translated reads, "Ranchi police ready to deal with anti-social elements and rioters* In view of Ram Navami, a mock drill was organised at the police station today. @JharkhandPolice @Lathkar_IPS @amolhomkar_IPS"
A teenager Mudassir (15), and one Sahil (21) had died of bullet injuries. Their families while talking to Maktoob said that the government authorities and Hindutva mobs are responsible for the brutal killing of their beloved. Eight others, including a policeman, too, had sustained bullet injuries and are currently being treated.
According to Indian Express, Jharkhand Police had filed five FIRs at two Ranchi police stations, naming 22 Muslim men for the violence, and five Hindu men for assembling near the temple in violation of the Section 144 (CrPC) that was in force.

Ranchi Police has arrested ten youths who were supplying brown sugar and planning a crime. The police team under the leadership of Kotwali DySP, Prakash Soy has arrested four youths who were planning a crime in Mojahid Nagar of Hindpiri police station area.
On the other hand, the police team under the leadership of City DySP has raided Anjuman Colony of Lower Bazaar police station area and arrested six youths who were supplying brown sugar. The arrested youth included Naved Ali, Vicky, Faizan Ali, Mohd. Shahil, Sawan Khan and Shahnawaz alias Raja are included.
Police have recovered 15.25 grams of brown sugar and Rs 36 thousand from them. Vicky, who was arrested, has a previous criminal history. He has been an accused in 12 cases. Mohammad Sahil has been accused in two cases and Sawan has been accused in one case. SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha gave this information while holding a press conference in his office on Thursday.
The Jharkhand government has made a formal appeal to the protesting contractual police assistants to end their ongoing agitation, promising to extend their services by an additional year. The assistants have been demanding direct recruitment into the police force and an increase in their honorarium, PTI reported.
Mallick clarified that direct induction into the police force is not feasible but assured that special provisions such as age relaxation would be provided to allow the protesters to compete fairly for other positions. He also noted that recruitments for an additional 6,500 posts in the police department would be conducted soon, and the protesting assistants are eligible to apply.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha echoed these sentiments, urging the SPOs to end their protest. He highlighted that the government has addressed most of their demands, including a hike in honourarium and relaxations in future appointments within the excise, forest, and police departments, the report stated.
An assistant sub-inspector of police in Jharkhand's Ranchi was arrested on charges of raping a minor for more than a year. The incident was reported on November 14 this year, when the survivor's mother approached the police station.
The survivor, on November 10 this year, complained of stomach ache and narrated her ordeal to her mother. Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) Act on November 14.
In her complaint, she alleged her family was receiving constant threats from the accused's family and that the mother, wife and two brothers-in-law of the accused thrashed her husband, who works at a construction site.

The police has also claimed to have recovered two long suicide notes from the spot. According to police, the children were strangled, while the bodies of other members had injuries on their necks caused by sharp-edged weapons.
A video playing out on a mobile screen showing drone camera surveillance footage of Ranchi police monitoring rooftops of houses has been circulating rapidly on social media. It is being shared with the claim that ahead of Ram Navami, Ranchi police discovered terraces of 10 houses that were stacked up with stones, implying a conspiracy. Many Right-Wing users have shared the video with a communal taunt.
An X user named Ritik stated that Ranchi police found heaps of stones on 10 terraces a day ahead of Ram Navami. He also wrote that one could guess which religious community these 10 homes belonged to.
