Open edges that run through the area where objects are to be trimmed with each other will cause Boolean operations to fail because the intersection curve will be open at that point. In V6, these areas may be marked with a dot containing an exclamation point.

Not necessarily if you take some care. If the profiles are closed planar curves, the sweeps will have open planar ends, all you need to do is use Cap to close the ends. Now, if you have several sweeps coming together at different angles at a truss joint, that will most like cause difficulties in getting a good intersection - as 3D trusses also do in real life.

There are some solutions that might work OK for this for 3D printing as well - one of them that I use is creating spheres at the joints that are just big enough to enclose all the horrible crazy intersections at each joint. If each leg of the truss coming into the joint meets the sphere surface before it meets another leg, the whole thing will easily Boolean into a solid. The spheres might or might not be very visible in the final printed object, depending on the size and the resolution of the printer.

thinking out loud: the best universal 3d dimension would be clicking two points of interest, third point to determine the plane and than you could just place the dimension either in the plane or perpendicular to the plane which would be interactive

For game developers, it may seem like software piracy is an all but unstoppable fact of life for the industry, but according to the founder of well known Chinese hacker forum 3DM, game piracy might be dead in just two short years.

I'm just doing one at a time, but it's taking forever (like more than 30 minutes). The acad.exe process is cranking away at 30% so it seems like it's doing *something*. ACAD is responsive, and the "Import Progress Indicator" icon (lower right) is pulsing like it's working.

Thank you! I just had a good laugh because I googled opening a .3dm file with autodesk and came upon this thread only to find you guys were trying to open the exact same models I was. It's great New York provided these but trying to open them is wild! I will try Rhino. Again, Thank you!!!

Who's to say if 3DM, a forum for Chinese pirates, really feels this way or is just waging a misinformation campaign, but it sounds like they really have had a lot of trouble with the anti-tamper technology Just Cause 3 uses to surround its digital rights management.

Just Cause 3 uses Denuvo Anti-Tamper, which has kept it and FIFA 16, which launched back in September, crack-proof so far. In a statement to Eurogamer, Denuvo's marketing director boasted that protection has been so successful over the past two years that "some publishers are are even considering releasing console-only titles for the PC platform." Not everyone uses Denuvo for their PC titles because of the expense involved right now.

With games producers everywhere super excited at the prospect of a market free from the nuisance of 3DM, optimism of a boosted-revenue future was high. However, while it seems 3DM can deliver surprise gifts with one hand, apparently they can just as easily take them away with the other.

Regarding PETG sticking to smooth PEI sheets: Use window cleaner like Windex instead of IPA to clean sheet, it creates layer that's just enough to act as release agent. Or you can add a bit of talcum powder and polish it away with paper towel until no free powder if left on sheet. Works with other materials that weld to PEI surface too, like TPU.

So there is conflicting information between the WAN show and this video, WAN show stated that there are 2-3 options of funds from the tees, one of them being going towards the production of the masks, while the other 1-2 where to go for COVID actions in Canada. Now I'm fine with the funds going towards the filament as it is costly ($40 a machine a day basically) however considering hundreds of people have volunteered (not to mention hundreds would likely apply to volunteer for you) for such a cause, I'm still against LMG hiring a person to do it using the cash from the tees. Simply because that would be a waste of funds that could be put towards other things to help those in need during the pandemic. Buy food with that money and donate it to the food bank, anything is still better than paying someone to watch machines and do what someone already employed could do w/o the funds being diverted away from a good cause.

With that extra funds you could use to buy N95 masks and hand them out to places that need them like senior homes, the elderly, even the homeless, people who are at high risk of getting it. I understand people (possibly including that person) lost their job because of this, but the sooner we kill this thing the better, the sooner everyone can get back to every day lives. Hell even donating our money to a place like Doctors Without Borders or Direct Relief would be better than paying an extra person a wage.

Allow me to politely disagree. Finding FFP3/N95/whatever masks is nearly impossible right now, if you find those they are for vastly inflated prices and LMG is not big enough subject to be able to negotiate prices down. On top of that: hiring a person means there is one less person off of unemployment. Depending on their contract, LMG needs to pay government for that person, or that person needs to pay his/her own taxes and fees etc. Being hired means they have some income, which then goes towards buying things and services - and helping further down the line. Even if the job is just watching 30 printers, emptying plates, wiping them clean and clicking "reprint" - still better and much more meaningful than sitting home and collecting unemployment money.

OBJ files were used quite a bit historically and it isn't that difficult to roll your own importer or at least an importer that works for simple models you care about. Just handle verts, colors & normals to start and you'll be fine for the simple models you are describing. Sure it will barf if you try to read in arbitrary OBJ files--but just don't do that. ;^)

Is there any chance that this model had been converted generally with Revit 2020, if it was saved with a previous release of Revit? This is kind of known to sometimes cause issues like this, or similar.

Kaj Burival , This is a good info about the faulty model, but it doesn't explain why after re-install of Enscape it managed to display all the elements. I will keep watching. I just installed the latest updated version of Enscape and will see how it works.

I haven't had it happen... Again, I think it was something like a memory leak... Where I'm doing a lot of imaging and 3d editing... constantly updating the model with Enscape open... After a couple of hours of that and adding a bunch of vegetation assets... it just "got tired"...

I know Slicer measurements are correct. It is just there are some tools out there (and probably some 3D printers) that use different scaling e.g. OpenSim, if I load something generated by Slicer, it will appear larger than it should be as OpenSim thinks the spacing is in meters not mm. I have to rescale it in OpenSim e.g. multiply by 0.001 or or resale it in Slicer using Transforms module.

This is exactly what I suspect is happening and increasing acceleration does slightly improve the issue. Is there any setting or adjustment that can be made to have the extruder slow down during corners?

Now if they would just add pressure/linear advance to the firmware, it would be good (i think marlin has it already)). i've been experimenting on my larger cartesian and one thing other than corners is holes. they look much better, like holes without that extra bulge on their side. However it's a different setting for different filaments and even temperature so it's yet another value to dial in.

3DM believes it will eventually get to Just Cause 3, just as it did FIFA 15, Lords of the Fallen and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but the battles are increasingly hard, and in future years, as Bird Sister's comment suggests, 3DM isn't sure it can win.

It's naive to believe game piracy is about to be stamped out, because I don't believe it ever will be, but Denuvo's Anti-Tamper technology has achieved the most significant victory against it that I can remember.

So, I have re-installed SketchUp as administrator, as you suggested. I am even running it as administrator, just in case. The same result: NOTHING happens. I cannot export a 3D model. I get no warnings or errors when I try.

Thanks to all who tried to help, and apologies to the SketchUp Team for any offence I may have caused due to my frustration. You guys rock - even though it took 11 days for any serious attempt at resolving my issue.

If you have trouble finding out how to switch the music off, it automatically switches off when you enter the game and also there is a button on the bottom right of the trainer window that has an itunes looking logo, just press that.

When I just started with 3D printing years ago I frequently ran into problems caused by the feeders, not specifically Ultimakers. With a background in engineering it inspired me to design my own alternative feeder. I found a great partner in the community of Ultimaker, helping in pushing this feeder to new levels by supplying valuable feedback and experiences. This all lead to the 'Bondtech extruder'
