There were 5 questions that were submitted but not asked during the debate due
to the time limit. We sent out the questions to both candidates so that they can
respond at a later time.

Warren's responses are below:

1. District 4 is diverse in many ways. After November's election the Board of
Supervisors will be entirely Caucasian. In light of this what will the
candidates do to ensure that the needs of this diverse population are best met?

I will work hard, everyday, to represent the diverse interests of District 4. I
will be responsive to all constituents and I will meet with the community on a
regular basis. In addition to working hard to represent "all people," I will try
to appoint a staff member from the district and will try to appoint a person who
speaks Spanish. I would value input on this personnel matter after November 6th.

2. The idea was mentioned to form & work with community groups in unincorporated
areas. How would these groups interact or interfere with organizations like the
Fair Oaks Council?

I look at those groups as a way to improve communications with the community.
It's important, for example, that the new supervisor reach out to the NFO
business community. I would form a business group that I would meet with on a
scheduled basis to share information, get input from and work with to find
common solutions to troubling issues. It would be important for a council member
to be on the working groups that may get formed so that the council's voice is
present during conversations.I don't believe this approach clouds the work of
the council.

3. Parks in NFO are all private parks, usually established by neighborhood
groups. These groups may have good intentions, but can often lack the input of
the neighbors directly involved and the long term maintenance resources and may
create the potential for an attractive nuisance. Does each candidate have a plan
to provide resources and oversight to manage and operate a park system in NFO,
or can they offer an alternative solution?

I think that county involvement in the NFO parks is essential. I would work to
get funding, support and increase the visibility of this issue with other board
members as I believe that parks are an important part of community. I also
believe that neighbors need to have a voice in this process.

4. Many residents have mentioned the lack, or inadequacy, of services in NFO.
Among the things mentioned are poor health services, a small local library
(which is actually run by Redwood City), and crumbling infrastructure. What are
the candidates plans to bring public services up to the level that one would
expect for a population of this size?

NFO is one of my highest priorities. There isn't a day that has gone by in this
campaign that I haven't thought about the issues facing NFO and I believe I am
well suited to work on the development of solutions. I know the county can do
better in NFO and I will hold the county accountable to do just that. I want to
expand the size/capacity of the library and in that regard, it's important that
the next supervisor have a solid working relationship with surrounding
communities because issues like "flooding" are a multi-jurisdictional issue. The
same is true for most other issues.

5. The candidates have mentioned education often. How do the numbers of NFO
students in honors and AP classes compare with those of their peers & what will
the candidates do to improve those numbers?

The number of minority students in API classes and scores for those students
generally are lower. I will work with the school system to explore ways to
improve learning opportunities across the board. Only through leveraging our
individual resources through greater collaboration, communication and
cooperation will this situation improve - especially given this era of reduced
resources.
