Commanders,

We have received the results from the Voice of Democracy (VOD) Contest. The Top Ten Districts are:
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 19, 24, 25, and 28

We have also the results for the Teachers of the Year. The Districts with the three Teacher of the Year winners are:
  • Elementary Teacher of the Year: District 20
  • Middle School Teacher of the Year: District 10
  • High School Teacher of the Year: District 20
  •
The District with the winning Patriot’s Pen (PP) student will be notified independently.

Emails have been sent to all winners with their official notification and details regarding the Mid-Winter Awards Banquet, which will be held at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel.
Please note that only the Top Ten VOD finalists, the State Patriot’s Pen winner, and the three Teachers of the Year are invited to participate in the Mid-Winter events and Awards Banquet.
District Commanders who have a Top Ten VOD finalist or a Teacher of the Year, as listed above, may contact the students and teachers to inform them that they are finalists. If they have not already done so, they should be instructed to immediately contact the Department of Texas Headquarters office to confirm whether they will be attending.
If unforeseen circumstances prevent any participant from attending, their scholarship notification and plaque will be forwarded to the respective District Commander after the Awards Banquet for later presentation.

For each student and teacher finalist, a hotel room with two beds has been reserved at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. Accommodation is provided for:
  • The student and their parent/guardian(s)
  • The teacher and one guest
  •
The reservation includes:
  • Arrival: Friday, January 16, 2026
  • Departure: Sunday, January 18, 2026
  • Breakfast vouchers for Saturday and Sunday, provided at check-in
  •
The student’s parent/guardian(s) will serve as the chaperone and are required to attend all functions with the student.
The Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. During the banquet, the Top Ten VOD scholarships will be presented in reverse order, along with the State Patriot’s Pen award and the Teacher of the Year awards.
This is a formal event, and formal attire is required. The winners will be our honored guests.
One Awards Banquet ticket has been reserved for each student and one parent/guardian, as well as each teacher and one guest. Additional banquet tickets are available for $75.00 each, if needed. Please advise if additional tickets are requested.
