Subject: Incident Report – Attempted Removal of Machine

Comrades,

Please notify your Posts that yesterday evening, an individual attempted to remove a machine from one of our Posts under the guise that a replacement would arrive the following day. Fortunately, the on-duty staff member acted prudently and made a call before the machine could be taken. They were instructed not to release the equipment under any circumstances. The individual then left the premises without the machine.

It appears the same individual attempted a similar scheme shortly afterward at another location. Reports suggest he already had a unit loaded on his trailer, which may indicate that a successful removal occurred elsewhere earlier in the evening.

The Post Commander was intent on contacting law enforcement to file a report. While caution was urged, advising that guidance should first be sought from Pace-O-Matic Compliance Officers since no loss had occurred, police were contacted nonetheless.

Following this, the Post staff promptly warned other operating locations. Their actions likely contributed to the suspect’s eventual arrest. Communication with law enforcement clarified that the individual was attempting to remove a game terminal. To my knowledge, that concluded the investigation for the evening.

I must stress that Post officers should not independently approach District Attorneys or law enforcement officials to discuss the legalities of these systems. Such actions risk spreading misinformation and creating false narratives, while also increasing the likelihood of unnecessary legal expenses. VSWEEPS, in partnership with Pace-O-Matic (Lone Star Skill), maintains dedicated compliance teams that ensure no system is placed into operation that would jeopardize the VFW or its officers. Ignorance is not an excuse; discipline in following established channels is essential.

Should you have questions or concerns regarding VSWEEPS operations within your Post, please contact the Department. We will provide the necessary resources to ensure your issues are addressed properly.

Respectfully,

Ben
