District Cooling Forum Google Group Members,

If you aren't already aware, the IDEA is holding its 104th annual conference June 2-5, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Miami, Miami FL.   You can find more information at the following url.

The District Cooling Forum Meeting will be part of the program as listed below.
·   District Cooling – Flagler. Chair: Joe Hoose, Cool Systems. Peer exchange for district cooling issues
3pm to 5pm, Sunday, June 2, 2013

We would like to continue the strong interest in District Cooling and increase the value of this forum with a pre-meeting brainstorming of topics that would be of value to the group.  While putting together the meeting agenda it would be great to have feedback from the District Cooling community at large.  The following are subjects that may be of interest to date.

-ASHRAE TC6.1 Chilled Water Plant Design; ASHRAE has decided to add a new chapter to the ASHRAE Handbook on Central Plant Design.  An IDEA member Steve Tredinnick is the ASHRAE Central Plant Subcommittee Chair and it may be of interest to discuss collaboration.
-IDEA District Cooling Best Practice Guide; More than three years in development the guide is dedicated to the growth and utilization of district cooling as a means to enhance energy efficiency, to provide more sustainable and reliable energy infrastructure, and contribute to improving the global environment.  This publication was published in the last couple of years and is now in active distribution.  How is it being received, what do we like, and what could be better.
-Heat Metering Standard,ASTM WK37952-New Specification for equipment and instrumentation of heat metering technologies; Long overdue, the ASTM is in development of a National thermal energy metering standard specification and testing methodology.  This should bring some attention and credence to the chilled water metering and sub-metering so important in district cooling distribution systems.
-Can CHW FCU's and terminal equipment compete in a development project with first cost priorities?
-Chilled Beams are getting attention in the design community.  Will it go viral?  They have significantly different operating parameters than standard cooling terminal equipment.  How will this effect the district cooling distribution systems?
-Chemical Treatment issues
-Thermal Energy Storage
-Delta T best practices
-Variable Primary Pumping
-All Variable Speed Central CHW plants
-Virtual CHW plants
-State of the Art in CHW efficiency and optimization tools
-Condensor Water Optimization Strategies.
