Itend to review a lot of mixing plugins every year, but I would say only about 20 to 30 percent show up on my mixing and mastering sessions after the review. So today, I want to discuss the ten plugins that get the job done in my DAW daily. So without further ado, here are the best mixing plugins ever that you can use to take your music production to the next level. (In my humble opinion)

FabFilter Pro Q3 stands as one of the very best in the realm of equalization. Its intuitive interface and powerful features make it a staple in my mixing process. The plugin offers everything from basic EQ adjustments to complex dynamic processing, making it incredibly versatile for any mixing scenario.

Harshness and resonance can be the bane of any mix, and Soothe 2 is my solution. This dynamic resonance suppressor is adept at taming harsh high frequencies and smoothing out uneven tonal balance.

iZotope Ozone 11 is a comprehensive mastering suite that I find indispensable. Its array of modules, from EQ to maximizer, offers everything needed to take a mix from good to great.(Check out my full review here)

When it comes to vocal processing, CLA Vocals by Waves is a plugin that I find incredibly useful. Despite some mixed opinions in the industry, its versatility and ease of use make it a valuable tool in my arsenal.( See my 10 Favorite Waves Plugins)

The Softube Console 1 Core Mix Suite is a comprehensive channel strip that has revolutionized my mixing workflow. It combines EQ, compression, and saturation in one intuitive package.

My Usage: I find the Console 1 indispensable for quickly shaping the tone and dynamics of individual tracks. Its analog warmth and character are a significant part of my signature sound.

In the final stages of mixing and mastering, accurate metering is crucial. Decibel by Process Audio has become an essential tool in my setup for its detailed and accurate visual feedback.

But then I am not your typical Bubbler and I am not an early adopter in this case. Someone really would need to understand my pains to drag me over. But most plugins seem to address early Bubble usage, not late. And that is where the money is, not early stage MVP.

It depends on what the goal is. If you want external clients (such as smartphone apps) to access the plugin, then the REST API is the way forward. OctoPrint's server should never call its own REST API from the Python side, if you need plugin-to-plugin communication on the server side then helpers are the way to go:

Depending on your provided data you can also "push" the data to other plugins.

So, instead that the 3rd party plugin needs to activly read/pull the data, you can fire an event with a payload thru the eventbus. Other plugins can then listen for such event.

Bed Level Visualizer plugin has the event registration as example of the current methods here and fired here. It also has examples of REST API and the use of send_plugin_message which is another way that other plugins can respond to information on the UI side.

All the data I like to provide to others is available in the backend and still in the frontend. So would it be helpful (or aligned with OctoPrint Guidelines) to also provide some JavaScript functions in my view model that can be called by others in addition to my python functions?

IMHO you shouldn't implement stuff that is not needed, because each time you need to change something in the viewModel you need to make sure that the other ("unknown") consumers can handle the change. (Synced-Releases or backward compatibility)

Yeah, I think the websocket approach for other plugins to get shared data makes the most sense. I've only ever used other plugin viewModels js functions to verify if the plugin was installed and enabled in order to react differently in the UI.

Work finished...if somebody like to comment the documentation feel free. I would be happy to get feedback. Decided that every plugin should implement its view interface which would avoid issues with undocumented calls.
