Free DWG viewing including cloud files. 30-day trial to create and edit. Use familiar AutoCAD drafting tools online in a simplified interface, with no installation required. Bring teams together to review and edit CAD drawings via quick collaboration with AutoCAD users on designs.

Both apps allow users to view, edit, share, and create 2D CAD drawings. AutoCAD web app is accessed entirely online in a web browser on any computer. AutoCAD mobile app is included with AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT and provides similar features on iPhone and Android devices.

For stakeholders who only need file-viewing access, we offer free viewers without a subscription. If you're transitioning to named user, be sure to take advantage of the trade-in offers available to you.

Some of our user use DWG True view. They often need to search for a text in the drawing. DWG TrueView does not allow the function FInd. And I dont think that we are able to code (vba) that function in TrueView

It is an often asked feature, that thusfar has not yet been implemented.

A work-around is using Autodesk Design Review, which has a search function for text objects. But to be able to read a .dwg with Design Review you need to install the corresponding version of DWG True-View. Since the last available version of Autodesk Design Review is 2013, that means you need to work with DWG trueview 2013.

The download page for old versions of trueview can be found here.

I hope this helps

not all people have a licence for a full autocad, in a lot of companies those licences are limited for drafters and technicians only, project management will more often use a viewer to consult the work of their drafters.

I have uploaded a 3D Model to Autodesk viewer. In the 2D View there is a layers option which is not available in the 3D view.
In the 3D view the only option is to turn on/off Objects which doesn't meet our needs as we need to identify the objects.
Is there a way to turn layers on/off while viewing in 3D? Or another free viewer that may do this?
Or do I need to move to other software?

For your online viewer support, actually click on the ? on the top right of that website and follow the links. Try this in the interim so when you repost you can actually show you tried what you wanted in the correct place too

Sorry for the slow reply. Autodesk got back to me stating it isn't a function of the software while in 3D view and in turn isn't possible (quite annoying, as would be very helpful!). The client only needed a quick view of separate layers so I ended up creating a video isolating layer names. Suited their needs.

I am looking for a viewer type application that doesn't allow you to edit the drawing in any way other than adding dimensions, and printing it out. I am the CAD technician and one of our operators needs to use the viewer to program their machine, however we cannot risk them accidentally changing the drawing. We just want them to be able to print out a drawing with dimensions they add and that is it

I am the one wanting to get them the full version and allow them to copy files and create their own dimensional drawings, my boss doesn't want them being able to change anything because people in the past have edited and saved controlled files. I see no problem giving them a copy of the file to use and not the original but he still thinks there will be errors even if we train them...

Display 2D and 3D model views of your designs on your website by utilizing the Viewer SDK to embed a web-based 3D viewer in a web page. Enable powerful tools that let your audience interactively control section cuts, explode assemblies, and take measurements in a browser. Site visitors can also control the display of individual objects and layers, markup and print their views, and easily share a link of the viewer and models with others.

I think this is graphic related but I am mystified. When I view an object in the object viewer I can only see it in wireframe, and the realistic , conceptual and hidden modes just show nothing other than wireframe.

I am having the same problem it seems like. When I view from top down in Architecture, all I see are thin lines for my structural members. If I hold shift and the middle mouse button and rotate the display even slightly, all of my dtructural members show up perfectly. I usually use vanilla AutoCAD, but we are working with a vendor that has created all of their files in Architecture and they work much better in Architecture than vanilla AutoCAD.

I would say that your 'problem' is not the same as Keith's. Within AutoCAD Architecture, each AEC object (walls, doors, structural members, etc.) has multiple visual styles assigned to it. Also at play, the Cut Plane. What you are seeing is as designed. When you view a beam from top view, it will show objects below the Cut Plane realistically, beam objects above the cut plane will show an 'axis' line. It is a complex system behind the scenes, but is very powerful and useful if understood and used properly. Here is a link to get you started on the ACA Display System. Look at the image below as an illustration...

I have 2 screens & had issues with windows being off the second screen and used CUI to get them back. The second screen is an extension, not a clone. I can't find the spec viewer in CUI to see if it's floating. I tried cascading screens as that has sometimes brought back a window that is off screen but that doesn't work. ALT TAB doesn't switch to the spec viewer either. I am in a model and see the command run with no apparent effect. Has anyone seen this before?

Hello Community! We will perform an update on the Vectorworks Community Board on Saturday, Jun 29th, from 8.00 AM to 12.00 PM EDT. During this time, the site will be unavailable. I appreciate your patience.

Hugo, I used to use volo view for a dwg viewer and that worked fine but autocad now only has the desktop viewer and I have not checked to see if that can view DWGs or not and I did not want to download just to look at it.

We use AutoDesk TrueView, running Windows XP in Parallels Desktop. It has proved to be a reliable tool for viewing incoming AutoCAD files and checking outgoing AutoCAD exports. It is Windows only, but is available for Mac users with the expenditure of several hundred dollars and a little bit of time. It was worth it to us.

Katie, tahnk you. I already contacted them and they suggested checking an option in the Preferences called "Use Software Open GL". It has worked for many files, but huge DWG files still crash or behave very slow. Anyway, the situation is better. But fot bigger files, the only option I have is to import them into VW.

Our hope is that as you need even more power, you'll consider upgrading to our enhanced DoubleCAD XT Pro product or DoubleCAD plug-ins as available. DoubleCAD XT Pro is a great companion to AutoCAD and an excellent drafting complement to popular mechanical design package such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, and Solid Edge."

Teigha File Converter seems to only convert DWG to older DWG or DWF... That's not exactly what I wanted (a viewer), but that's a progress: now I'll be able to convert to older DWG version to be viewed in lx-viewer. Now, I just have to see if lx-viewer works. I'll try and let you know.

AutoCAD is the software for the design and visualization in 2D and 3D of drawings, objects, cuts of objects, buildings, etc. It is a generic drawing program that includes basic geometry for 2-dimensional recreation, sketching; symbol libraries for different businesses -architecture, mechanics, industry- that allow you to select the figure you need and insert it into your drawing.

The program also recreates 3D pictures, thanks to the set of advanced tools that allow to process vector images and edit complex graphics. AutoCAD is used to manage the drawing by layers; this allows ordering it in independent parts with different colors or graphics and allows the definition and unique modification of many objects, scattered by the drawing.

In this context, many will send their drawings to their managers or clients and they will ask the technicians to preview the file. It is necessary to bear in mind that Autodesk, the company behind the AutoCAD software, changes the format of the files from time to time. In fact, this month - March 2018 - the file version will change to AutoCAD 2018.

The extension of the AutoCAD files is DWG. When we find a document that presents this extension, we know that this file contains designs, geometric data, maps or photos. To be able to visualize this type of files, we need a DWG file viewer with advanced features, both of AutoCAD file output quality, as well as facilities to manage plans, drawings or objects.

It is quite common for architectural companies to want to manage all their information, including plans, in a single repository. This is where document management systems come into play. These document management solutions, sometimes also called enterprise content management software, should facilitate not only the storage but also the preview of these documents.
