That said, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has proper flagship specs - the chipset is a little speed devil and the 12MP camera looks very promising. The phone also brings blazing fast connectivity, the trendy fingerprint reader and a heart rate monitor to boot.

I don't know which camera you tested, but the one I tested in a shop stopped after 5 raw shots. Perhaps the one you tested was set on jpg only? All the reviews on the net quote the 5 raw files limit for gnx, and so did the only galaxy nx user that posted on the samsung forum.

My point is, samsung should have made a prosumer body, with lots of physical controls, much better evf, new and improved sensor, huge buffer, ibis. All this at a price LOWER than this galaxy nx, which is the biggest failure for nx system.

In addition to the rear cameras, the Meizu 16s sports a 20 MP front-facing camera. This camera is very tiny with a 2.5mm diameter, but still appears promising. Meizu demonstrated an improved portrait mode, as well as front-facing HDR and an ArcSoft-powered AI beauty mode.

Once you go higher than 10x, the long periscope-style tele camera looks promising, and we expect it to deliver high levels of detail in bright light. A small sensor and aperture likely mean a drop of image quality in indoor conditions and in low light, though. This said, such long tele ratios are unlikely to be used much indoors.

A new, larger 6.7-inch size joins the popular 6.1-inch design, featuring a new dual-camera system, Crash Detection, a smartphone industry-first safety service with Emergency SOS via satellite, and the best battery life on iPhone

In terms of design, the phone looks very similar to the Vivo X80 Pro and last year's X70 Pro+ (Review). In fact, the only visual difference between the X80 and the X80 Pro is the missing periscopic camera on the former. Everything else, including the placement of the ports and speaker grills, is identical. Vivo has also also given the X80 an official IP53 rating, which is not commonly found in smartphones in this segment.

The battery life also looks promising here. On the first couple of days, I was able to get close to 6.5-7 hours of screen-on-time, and the phone was not dead at that point, I still had some juice left. Do note that I used it quite intensively during that time.

Samsung's Galaxy A54 5G is a lot different from its predecessor, and it all starts from the design. The new phone now matches the look of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S23 lineup from the back. The company also ditched the camera island from the Galaxy A53 in favor of a more minimal look, with three individual lenses protruding from the back. I wasn't a huge fan of it when I first saw the renders, but I've grown to like it over time. Samsung appears to be going for a more cohesive design, and the Galaxy A54 certainly looks like it's part of the Galaxy S series with this new back.

Minor charging complaints aside, Samsung has done a good job with the Galaxy A54 5G. It's a cut above the rest in the mid-range segment and, dare I say, it's inching closer to the flagship territory. The design, as I mentioned, has started growing on me and I like how Samsung is trying to differentiate its phone from others with a cohesive design. For $450, the Galaxy A54 5G offers an excellent display, a decent set of cameras, and reliable performance for day-to-day usage. I wish Samsung would've improved the cameras even more or at least add a telephoto lens instead of a macro. I also wish it supported faster charging, but it seems like wishful thinking considering even the Galaxy S23 tops out at 25W charging.

Additionally, thanks to more powerful processing and zero shutter lag the excellent HDR+ mode is now on by default, using an image stacking approach to reduce noise, capture better detail and increase dynamic range. While the Pixel XL's camera hardware looks promising, it is these innovative algorithms that make the Google device one of the most interesting smartphones for photography released this year.
