while setting up a new arch installation on my new laptop I am facing following problem while using the Lenovo 40AY USB-C dock:
I am using a laptop to my usb-c dock with 2 monitors connected via DP, mouse and keyboard via Usb.
Inconsistent states while testing(happend sometime):
When I doing s2idle in the the different states ether the system ist stuck in sleep. The docks starts working shortly or fully again.
While testing also pulseaudio process got stuck after disconnecting the dock and was impossible to kill and while having state one several times
gnome secfaulted with leaving the Capslock key blinking and rebooting the laptop.
While debbuging I tested the setup also with manjaro from live usb stick.
Here the dock is working well only well with in some states throwing the same error on dmesg without any consequences.
Monitors, Audio, Inputs are working well when Un/Redocking or using s2idle.
Switched no to normal Thinkpad Dock 40AJ but still facing the same problem. After once undocking and redocking only the power connection is working.
When using manjaro life system the problem is not there.
Lenovo Dock Manager is a new solution that reduces the effort that IT administrators spend on the large scale deployment of Lenovo dock firmware updates. This solution runs on your PC and maintains a cache of the current firmware versions for supported Lenovo docks. When a dock is attached that has down-level firmware, it is automatically updated by Dock Manager. Video resources and links that may be helpful can be found below:
It can automatically download firmware updates from Lenovo Support directly over the Internet or from a local repository on your network that is created and maintained using Update Retriever. The four-character "machine type" for the supported docks listed below can be used in Update Retriever when searching for the latest firmware packages.
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 with Fedora 38 installed. Kernel version is 6.3.11. I originally bought a Lenovo USB-C dock for it (40AY) and that worked fine on F37 for a while until one day, the port went completely silent. I assumed at first it was a problem with the dock and bought a compatible Thunderbolt 4 dock (40B0), but I am getting no response from it either.
I have a gen 2 type c thinkpad docking station and its connected to a ThinkPad 14s. I have 3 monitors connected to the dock. I have 2 MSI Optix g27 monitors connected via DP cable and a 27 in Dell monitor via HDMI. I can only a max resolution of 1920 x 1080 for monitor 1 and monitor 2 (Msi and the dell). The 3rd monitor will only go up to 720 x 576. I have updated the docking station and my laptop is up to date driver wise. i've swapped monitors and calbes and all work if they are set to monitor 1 or 2. Any monitor i use as monitor 3 has the limited res issue. any ideas? thanks
