Light Fxiture Outliner is a an SU Podium V2.5 plug-in that uses an Outliner like interface to allow you to turn on and off point lights and spot lights. It easier than SketchUp's outliner because it only lists Light Fixtures and point lights/ spot lights.

If Sketchup is not in the c:\program files or c:\program files (x86), SU Podium V2.x will not show up in the plugins menu. You may find that for some reason on your Windows computer, SketchUp was not installed in c:\program files or \program files (x86) folder. To check to see where your sketchup.exe file is located, go to your Desktop, right click on the SketchUp icon, choose Properties from the context menu and select Shortcuts to see where sketchup.exe is located.

If it is not in the \program files (x86)\google\google sketchUp \ folder, reinstall SketchUp so that it gets installed in the default location. You may need to consult with your IT person regarding this.

There are reported problems saving images in folders with names that are more than 32 characters, or very long path names or have special characters in the path name. This is a Windows only problem. SU Podium will ignore the folder name and save the image to the default SketchUp model folder location or to a temporary folder. Make sure your designated folder name has less that 32 characters in it. Also, try to minimize the path name and avoid using special characters in the path name. Look at item #1 above and use this technique if you can not save the rendered image.

If you select a texture that is on a curved surface, the texture's name will not appear in Podium V2's Material dialog box. Select that specific material from SketchUp's Material browser (Windows) or use the SketchUp material selection (eyedropper) tool. This is true for textures that are on a back side (reverse side) of a SketchUp face as well. If you select the material in question by using the eyedropper or by selecting it from SketchUp's material browser (Windows only), the material will be displayed in the Podium Material dialog.

If we first consider materials, you might think that objects only have a very few basic properties like surface roughness or smoothness, colour, transparency and reflectivity. This is only partly correct as we will see later.

When working out how much detail to add, you also need to think about exactly what you want to achieve. The more realistic you want to get, the more detail you need to add, but the longer your scene will take to render. I think that for most people, a simple principle is to use only as much detail as you need.

You can see how the light floods out of the openings, bounces off the walls and the water, and is casting a shadow on the wall behind the cactus plant. This scene uses only 4 LEMs inside the building to light it. There are no light sources at all in the front courtyard.

SU Podium V2.6 is the newest release of SU Podium, the photo-realistic rendering plug-in for SketchUp Pro 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 (Win/Mac) or SketchUp 2017 (Windows only) and now INCLUDES Podium Browser Paid Content, the components and materials library.

The SU Podium plugin is an amazing rendering solution. SU Podium is actually a true plugin and does not require another program to be running in order to render. And this is the only renderer, other than Kerkythea that allows you to render for free! But their free service does come with one caveat, you can only render up to 500500 pixel image. But for those that are not looking for professional renderings and just want a free solutions that works well, this is it. But to get the higher resolution images the software needs to be purchased, but this is more than reasonable for this quality plugin.

If you don't already have it, go check out Podium Browser from SUPodium/Catalog. They have full 3D model assets you can download directly within SketchUp and manipulate just like any other geometry. They just won't load in as the white low poly, render-only assets like Enscape has and are full geometry. I use both for different things as needed.

Until I obtain my own copy of HD Pro, I can only assume it should look like the above image. You adjust those settings and "Sunlight" to get dramatically better results but it takes a lot of time figuring it all out.

As far as I know, based upon calling Chief Architect Sales and looking on their websites. You get more personal control and ability to fine-tune render views in Chief Architect X11 than in Home Designer Pro (I downloaded the trial version and looked at what was there), which in comparison to X11 was next to nothing. It is an upgrade over what was, before available in HD Pro (only "Standard Render"). If you want more control you have to spend the larger bucks.

Here is what I came up with after only a few minutes worth of work.

The second image is the same model - minus the island that I exported to Sketchup and Rendered with Podium.

The third image is of a Kitchen I did entirely in Sketchup when I switched from HD Pro to Sketchup and Podium. The last two of a Bathroom I did awhile back.

The issue with it (the second image that I tried exporting), is Sketchup only imports up to about 8-10 mb file sizes, bigger than that and it crashes. So if I want to improve render quality, I am going to have to figure out how to afford getting X11. Or experiment with some external rendering engines.

In sports, a type of podium can be used to honor the top three competitors in events. In the modern Olympics a tri-level podium is used. Traditionally, the highest platform is in the center for the gold medalist. To their right is a lower platform for the silver medalist, and to the left of the gold medalist is a lower platform for the bronze medalist. At the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, the Silver and Bronze podium places were of equal elevation. In many sports, results in the top three of a competition are often referred to as podiums or podium finishes. In some individual sports, podiums is an official statistic, referring to the number of top three results an athlete has achieved over the course of a season or career. The word may also be used, chiefly in the United States, as a verb, "to podium", meaning to attain a podium place.[4]

In some motorsport events, including Formula One, a representative of the team that won the race will also be present at the podium, with a fourth podium step, trophy and champagne. In many forms of motorsport, the three top-placed drivers in a race stand on a podium for the trophy ceremony. In an international series, the national anthem of the winning driver, and the winning team or constructor may be played over a public address system and the flags of the drivers' countries are hoisted above them. The recordings are short versions of the national anthems, ensuring the podium ceremony does not exceeded its allocated time. Should a driver experience problems with his car on a slow lap in Formula One, that driver is transported to the pit lane via road car by the Formula One Administration security officer.[8]

The term has become common parlance in the media, where a driver may be said to "be heading for a podium finish" or "just missing out on a podium" when he is heading for, or just misses out on a top three finish. The NASCAR Cup Series, the highest level of stock car racing in the United States, does not use a podium in post-game events or statistics. Instead, the winning team celebrates in victory lane, and top-five and top-ten finishes are recognized statistically. Those finishing second to fifth are required to stop in a media bullpen located on pit lane for interviews. The INDYCAR NTT IndyCar Series does not use a podium at either the Indianapolis 500 or at Texas Motor Speedway. The Indy 500 has a long tradition of the winning driver and team celebrating in victory lane, while Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage has stated that victory lane should be reserved for the winner of the race.[11] The series uses a podium at all other races, particularly road course events.

Architectural podiums consist of a projecting base or pedestal at ground level, and they have been used since ancient times. Originally sometimes only meters tall, architectural podiums have become more prominent in buildings over time, as illustrated in the gallery.

It brings a fantastic material editor and a plethora of other useful tools to expand the capabilities of Sketchup. On top of that, it is quite affordable as it will cost only a newsletter subscription.

Because SU Podium uses the features of the SketchUp model, you do not really have to set that much. If you also use the materials and objects from the Podium Browser (render ready library for SU Podium), you really only need to press 'render' for a nice rendering!

ProWalker GPU and Podium Walker Standard are photo-realistic visualization plug-ins for SketchUp that enable the user to quickly and easily create high-quality images and animations from SketchUp. (Pro)Walker supports all SU Podium material properties, Browser objects and lighting. ProWalker GPU is only available for Windows PC's with a powerful hardware configuration (see system requirements below). For Mac and less powerful PC's, we offer Podium Walker Standard.
