TESOL Arabia members are invited to apply for one of the two following Executive Council Branch Chapter Representative vacancies. These are volunteer roles, though reasonable expenses may be claimed in connection with your duties. The deadline for applications is 6 May 2011.
1. The Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate
2. Abu Dhabi City
The Role of the Representative
Chair (Area Representative):
Ø Forms a Chapter committee, and allocates responsibility for records, accounts, publicity, etc.
Ø Liaises with the Membership Secretary in order to keep up-to-date records of members
Ø Provides professional development opportunities through a variety of ways including such events as workshops, seminars and Chapter conferences
Ø Advertises a timetable of events through a regional newsletter, TESOL Arabia Perspectives, and via the TESOL Arabia website
Ø Publicizes TESOL Arabia Chapter events by posters and via the TESOL Arabia website
Ø Produces a report on Chapter activities for inclusion in each volume of TESOL Arabia Perspectives and a Chapter newsletter
Ø Works with, and involves, the regional District Office of the Ministry of Education and other educational establishments in the region
Ø Attends Executive Council meetings and the annual retreat
Ø Liaises with the representatives of the other TESOL Arabia regions, the SIGs and the Member At Large
