I have created my Strata with three rows and Study_ar  with one row shapefiles in ArcGIS 10.8. I have created the DISTANCE Project, copied these files into the DISTANCE datafile created. Unfortunately, I can't see the Strata layer on the map tab as a result I can't plan surveys based on the strata I have planned. I am using DISTANCE 7.4

Please can someone be of support

Thanks immensely

Dear David,

Can you send me your shapefile please (probably best to just send all the parts separately as .zips don't get through) and I can take a look.

Remember to just reply to myself and not the list when you send it,

Thanks
Laura

Dear David,

I have taken a look at your shapefiles and I think the problem was down to the format of the LinkID in the strata shapefile. I initially got an access error on importing the strata shapefile. Despite this it seemed to have loaded it as it was displayed on the map. When trying to generate a design it hung and when I reloaded the project there were only transects in the first stratum.

Once I amended the LinkID (I deleted it and created a new LinkID column which contained integer values) I had a successful import and it happily generated transects in all three strata.

I shall E-mail the amended shapefile back to you privately and I have added a note about this in the distance for windows help which will be shipped with the Distance 7.5.

Also for future reference user can note that if you import shapefiles using the import shape wizard then you do no have to add the LinkID yourself as that will happen automatically on import.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,
Laura
