Hello!

I'm attempting to perform a DSM analysis on a fairly unorthodox data set and have become involved in a lot of post-processing of spatial data to get our transects into the proper format. I'm working on splitting up transects into equal length segments and have had much difficulty finding a method to perform this in bulk (for many transects) using spatial tools in R (or ArcMap). I currently have the transect data in SpatialLinesDataFrame and/or shapefile format. If anyone has any experience with this issue and can direct to a package that would be helpful in segmenting these transects, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks a lot,
Sara Williams

Hi Sara, hi listfolk,

I think you might find the Marine Geospatial Ecology Tools for ArcGIS
quite handy for these tasks: http://mgel.env.duke.edu/mget/

Hope this helps!
