Dear Distance Sampling group,

I am working on camera trap DS trying to have abundance and density for a mammal species in a designated area.
During the initial set up of the protocol we wanted to have 9 rotations (see map 1). Unfortunately due to  financial issues we will only able to go up to 6 rotations (see map 2).
Now the camera traps are at the set up 3.
I was wondering if you had any advise regarding my study design if I should change it before going to set up 4. What would be the consequences on my statistical analysis keeping with the original design.

Kind regards,

Sarah

Quite an elaborate rotation scheme. I don't know of investigations of these rotational sampling schemes that would address your question of "consequences .. keeping original design". I would suggest you not alter your design mid-way through data collection.  If you earlier made the decision to live with six rotations, stay with that decision.
