importing comments via python client library?

Hi,
I would like to switch the comments from my current homegrown blogging system to disqus.
To this end I would like to use https://github.com/disqus/disqus-python to import them.
However the docs confuse me.
I presume what i need to do is create threads for all my posts, and import the comments.
but the "threads create" is marked as beta and under development.. is it safe to use?

also since i'll need to import comments from pre-existing users i want to add them with their nickname, email address and website properly set.
but according to https://disqus.com/api/docs/posts/create/ i can't do this without being able to authenticate as them?

any tips and pointers very appreciated!
