Hi, recently I have been observing many large consistently open connections destined for this domain. I am attempting to understand what exactly it is used for, and what type of content to expect on this domain. Is it strictly text? Images? Any .exe files? Any potential attack vectors for end-users? Please assist in my understanding.

This endpoint is to provide realtime updates for the Disqus embed such as incoming new comments, votes etc.

It uses the WebSockets protocol when it is available and falls back to HTTP and is not expected to have any content other than text in the foreseeable future. That said Disqus preservers its right to change the functionality of this endpoint on its own discretion.
