Assalam-o-Alaikum,
My dear brothers and sisters, after listening to a couple of sheikh's lecture, it inspired me to share following on the property issue.
Whether one considers it a property, right, or a trust issue, it simply is a test from Allah (SWT) to see how we - as a Muslim community - face a situation. The sunnah of prophet (s) and the examples of the sahabas (r) was to unite and never to divide the community except on the basis of imaan vs. kufr, etc. So I ask you my dear brothers and sisters in Islam; are any of the brothers involved in this issue representing kufr? Absolutely NOT! Therefore, please don't fall into a trap from our declared enemy - shaitan.
We all have the same goal of Jannah - but we have different approaches on trying to get there. We are diversified in our ideas on how – how – how to build or manage a Masjid. Let us stop judging each other and lets stop being harsh with each other. Don't forget muslims are human beings too. We all make mistakes and will continue to make mistakes so forgive - forgive - forgive each other's mistakes. Help each other with wisdom not to err. Clean your hearts from arrogance and pride - "our way vs. their way”, "we don't need them" or “we know better” attitudes. Next comes the process of justifying our methods and ideas and undermining the other’s ways… then comes backbiting… and so on and so on. This is a TRAP!!! Once again, please don't fall into a trap from our declared enemy - shaitan. Shaitan loves nothing more than to make us argue, fight, and further divide Muslims. Be flexible - cooperate, collaborate, respect other’s ideas and methodologies, use diversity to strengthen not to divide; and once again forgive - forgive - constantly forgive and insha-Allah (SWT) you will see the mercy of Allah (SWT).
Breakup of brotherhood; isn’t it why Allah (SWT) and our beloved prophet (s) forbid backbiting? So many of us don't even realize when we are backbiting because we don’t understand its real meaning and deep reasoning why backbiting is prohibited. Here is just the definition: http://www.balagh.net/english/ethical/ethical_role_models/33.htm Allah (SWT) chose you to build this community based on faith and love for each other ... you have put all your hearts and soul into it year after year... are you going to let shaitan dictate and break all this apart? You know shaitan is too smart – breaks us apart Little At A Time.
So my dear brothers and sisters, I humbly advise myself and you – from now on to work to unite and not to divide. Do you know why we became a community? It was a blessing from Allah (SWT); Allah (SWT) has put love in our hearts for each other because of this faith only – not because of race, nationality, or wealth – it is truly because of our faith – one common place - masjid. So are we doing justice to this faith - by being arrogant, by being selfish, by not forgiving and thus further dividing each other? Do you think Allah (SWT) will keep the sweetness of this faith in our hearts; if we don’t sacrifice our nafs – go against our arrogance, our selfishness, our unforgiving attitudes? Let us perfect our imaan through learning Islamic knowledge and practicing that knowledge through worship and sacrificing. Develop the unconditional love for Allah (SWT), fear the wrath of Allah (SWT), and hope for the best from Allah (SWT). We should turn to the Quran and Sunna to sincerely work to unite our hearts; don't use it to further divide.
What is our greatest weapon in times of trouble and fitna; it is indeed duaa - sincere duaa to Allah (SWT). Lets work to perfect our imaan so we can learn how to utilize this weapon the best. And as we work to perfect our imaan, still make duaa because Allah (SWT) hears the duaa of every creature – even the mushrik’s sincere duaa for guidance heard by Allah (SWT). May Allah protect us from Shaitan, from our arrogance, from our selfishness, from our pride, from our evil nafs and diseases of the hearts, Amin!
Wassalam, your brother in Islam.
