Free DWG viewing including cloud files. 30-day trial to create and edit. Use familiar AutoCAD drafting tools online in a simplified interface, with no installation required. Bring teams together to review and edit CAD drawings via quick collaboration with AutoCAD users on designs.

Both apps allow users to view, edit, share, and create 2D CAD drawings. AutoCAD web app is accessed entirely online in a web browser on any computer. AutoCAD mobile app is included with AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT and provides similar features on iPhone and Android devices.

For stakeholders who only need file-viewing access, we offer free viewers without a subscription. If you're transitioning to named user, be sure to take advantage of the trade-in offers available to you.

I'm using the online Autodesk Viewer to share my Revit model so other people can look at it without having Revit on their computers. The 3D view that makes it into the model seems to be a defaut view of everything that is existing in my Revit model, which is not what I'm looking for because it shows unnecessary elements like grids and model lines. I'd like to know if there is a way to select a view of my preference from my Revit model (that has been set to look a certain way - with templates and section boxes and such) or a way to edit the 3D view in the viewer to customize it to my liking.

I did try that. I even deleted all other 3D views from the model. I set up this view to look like I wanted it to look (with tmeplates and section boxes), and the online view still seems to be displaying every item that is present in the model.

If you main objection is that the default 3D View shows everything, why not just change what the default 3D view shows. You can apply a Template to it -- one that will be applied to every new 3D view created.

Delete existing 3D view. Create a new 3D View. In the View's Properties, click on "Edit Type". Under the "Assign View Template" dialog box that pops up, duplicate an existing Template to create a new one, and then set up the Properties for that new Template. Press OK. Now delete that 3D View and then press the little house icon. Another 3D View is created, this time using new Template.

I'm using Revit 2021 and worksharing a project. The client has requested we upload the model to Autodesk Viewer so they can look around. I originally uploaded a workshared Revit file without realising the 3D view was cropped by a section box so the 3D appeared cropped in Autodesk Viewer.

I removed the section box and uploaded the file again but the 3D still appeared cropped in the same location once I opened it in Viewer. This I retried a few times, moving/removing the section box each time but with the same result. I had a play with the section box tool in Viewer but it only further crops what's been uploaded.

I have saved a new model which is no longer linked to the central model and under a different file name. I've uploaded it again with the same result. I have asked a colleague to try and upload a separate file from their computer which is also appearing cropped in Viewer.

In these two most recent uploads we had; 1. streched the section box out far beyond the extents of the model and, 2. removed the section box entirely. In both uploads the thumbnails of the 3D view are displaying correctly, it's only when I go into the files that the 3Ds revert to the original cropped view. All other sheets have displayed correctly.

I have uploaded a 3D Model to Autodesk viewer. In the 2D View there is a layers option which is not available in the 3D view.
In the 3D view the only option is to turn on/off Objects which doesn't meet our needs as we need to identify the objects.
Is there a way to turn layers on/off while viewing in 3D? Or another free viewer that may do this?
Or do I need to move to other software?

For your online viewer support, actually click on the ? on the top right of that website and follow the links. Try this in the interim so when you repost you can actually show you tried what you wanted in the correct place too

Sorry for the slow reply. Autodesk got back to me stating it isn't a function of the software while in 3D view and in turn isn't possible (quite annoying, as would be very helpful!). The client only needed a quick view of separate layers so I ended up creating a video isolating layer names. Suited their needs.

In the Inventor Browser pane, if you expand representations and then view, you will most likely see that you have a view rep activated and its locked. So when you try to make changes at a locked view rep, you receive this message.

This is true, but only if you're Suppressing parts or subassemblies. Many new users misuse Suppression status, possibly because the term means something slightly different in other software. They tend to think that it means "make the part invisible so I can see what's behind it." Suppression is actually a memory management tool, which removes data for that component from the computer's memory to improve performance when you aren't actively working on that portion of the model. While it does make the object invisible, that is really more of a secondary effect than the main purpose of the tool.

Think of a fully detailed assembly model of something large with many components, such as a car. While you're working on the drivetrain, do you really need the turn signal lever or radio knobs sucking up the computer's RAM? No, not really. So you can Suppress the portions of the model you don't care about right now, so you can get better computer performance out of the portions you are currently working on. This was a much more critical feature of the program before 64 bit Windows became common.

The Master View Rep is locked by definition. It is the View Rep in which everything is visible, and overrides to that will not save. This is for purposes of working on the model, so that there is always a View Rep where nothing is hidden. You can't unlock it, you're not supposed to be able to, and there is no reason to do so.

Master DVR is defined as "Everything on, everything enabled, no color overrides". It is locked and you are not allowed to change anything.
If you need to make changes, you need to use something other than the Master DVR.

I have a revit file and am able to convert it via the cloud to a svf and view it in the 3D viewer. It works both as conversion of the .rvt file directly and as an export from the navisworks addin exporter.

What do you suggest I use for the 2D view? Note that I will have many drawings to process/view so I would prefer not to have to export a dwg for each view then convert those. I am hoping there is a special setting I can pass to the the converter that will create the 2D views

Adding to Jeremy's, FYI - If you are looking for a way with already published model, this does not help. But still you may want to be aware if case you are not - If you have a revit model, there is a UI tool to choose views you wish to include.

I tried object display>toggle visibility and window display>toggle model, also tried to select the whole model in orthographic view then tried to view it in perspective, but in perspective I can blindly select any surface or object but I can't see them.

Have you check if your Magnifier screen is on. As sometimes its turns on and hide everything on perspective view and ALT+ L is disable on this option. So if you just close the Magnifier, it may bring back to Perspective Camera, and you will be able to see your model again, hopefully it is your case.

Please, refer to images in attachment.

Save your file and Create a New File, select Yes for DELETE all objects and "views", then open againg your saved file and select NO for DELETE all objects and "views", this would reset your view error and brings your objects to the defaoult view.

Are you trying to find the ideal model viewer for your team? However, you've never had the perfect answer to this million-dollar question? Read along, as there might be a few help points for you to decide.

To begin with, there are many similarities between the two. Firstly, although they are both free, you must register with either an Autodesk ID or a Graphisoft ID in order to use them, which is a key similarity between the two. Both are browser-based, free to use, and have nearly identical performance. Both of them send email notifications when your model is successfully uploaded to the server.

The majority of the file formats mentioned above are from the Autodesk Environment of software programs. But, I have only personally tested IFC and RVT, it would be fascinating to learn from the community about any other formats that people have actively utilized the viewer for.

Additionally, Autodesk Viewer's "Explode" feature (shown below) is an excellent tool for delving into the model at its most fundamental level. You have an "Explode Slider" at the bottom that allows you to select the level of explosion you want.

The BIMx viewer's outstanding 2D plan or section representation superimposed on the 3D model is its key advantage. Working with the sections or ground plans is also made more enjoyable by the amazing UX that was integrated into this feature. It smoothly switches from a 2D Portion View to a section that can be moved vertically. I think that seems quite elegant to me!

Another fantastic feature is the ability to share Web links for particular viewpoints, which works similarly to how BCF files work. It seems like a fantastic tool for team cooperation, especially for teams that are present on building sites.

Another issue is that the model can only be accessed for a short period of time on the Autodesk Viewer before it needs to be manually extended. Additionally, the model date is permanently lost if the team neglects to extend it in time.
