Clickthe menu button , click Help and select About Firefox. On the menu bar, click the Firefox menu and select About Firefox. The About Firefox window will appear. The version number is listed underneath the Firefox name.

Opening the About Firefox window will, by default, start an update check. If an updated version of Firefox is available, it will be automatically downloaded. On Linux, this will happen only if you use a build downloaded from Mozilla's website; otherwise, updates will come through your Package Manager. For more information, see Update Firefox to the latest release.

The Copy Without Site Tracking option can now remove parameters from nested URLs. It also includes expanded support for blocking over 300 tracking parameters from copied links, including those from major shopping websites. Keep those trackers away when sharing links!

Firefox now supports Content-encoding: zstd (zstandard compression). This is an alternative to broti and gzip compression for web content, and can provide higher compression levels for the same CPU used, or conversely lower server CPU use to get the same compression. This is heavily used on sites such as Facebook.

NVIDIA RTX Video HDR is now available in Firefox. RTX Video HDR automatically converts SDR video to vibrant HDR10 in real time, letting you enjoy video with improved clarity on your HDR10 panel. It requires at least a 20-series NVIDIA RTX GPU, Microsoft Windows 10/11 64-bit, and NVIDIA driver version 550 or higher. The feature can be enabled in the NVIDIA control panel.

The URL Paste Suggestion feature added in Fx125 was temporarily disabled while the team investigates a potential performance issue. The feature will be re-enabled in a future release once the performance issue is addressed.

With the release of Firefox 126, we are pleased to welcome the developers who contributed their first code change to Firefox in this release, 12 of whom were brand new volunteers! Please join us in thanking each of these diligent and enthusiastic individuals, and take a look at their contributions:

After letting Firefox create a new profile, you can load the About Profiles page by typing or pasting about:profiles in the address bar and pressing Enter/Return to load the list. It's difficult to test which profile you were using immediately before the current one, but I think they are listed in order of creation, so that's one clue.

To determine which version of Firefox was last to use a profile, find the Root Directory row and click the Open Folder button. Find the compatibility.ini file and open that in a text viewer (like Windows Notepad). Note that Windows may hide the .ini file extension to make your life more mysterious, but there's only one file named compatibility.

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and I use the Perapera Chinese add-on for Firefox. It worked up to version 39, but now in version 40 it just stopped working. So I tried to downgrade to version 39 following this link, where there are two options:

This is the home of the Ubuntuzilla project, hosts an APT repository with .deb repacks of the latest official release versions of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla SeaMonkey, and Mozilla Thunderbird.

However, I've just done an update & upgrade on my system (I use apt for this instead of the Software Updater), and Firefox looks like it may have reverted to the default "Snap" version. From the Help, About Firefox window I see the statement "Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0" as shown in the screenshot:

Please note that I'm not asking how to install it as there are plenty of tutorials, and a Q&A here in SE addressing that. I simply want to know how to verify that I've got the PPA version (or the SNAP version).

Actually, symbolic links are located in /snap/bin the executable snaps are in /snap under a folder of it's name. The output of ls -l $(which firefox) will show you the file path that is launched for what is found first based on the definition of your $PATH environment variable:

The shell $PATH will determine which version is launched first. If you have both installed, it will find the first version based on looking through the file paths defined from left to right, which may vary. The defined $PATH can be changed (take care here!) to redefine which version is launched. This is not typically the way it is done. It's often easier to define an alias to do this and leave the variable alone:

Also if you are working around a bug in Gecko, then the bug is probably also in derivatives of Firefox, and this code should work with derivatives too (Do Waterfox and Pale Moon have 'Firefox' in the user agent string?).

It's the third time I've tried to answer this question on StackOverflow because I kept finding new ways to break my script. However, I think it's working now. It's a great exercise to learn about Firefox features and interesting to see how things have evolved. The script can be rewritten with different features, I chose ones I thought would be most useful, I would love for someone else to rewrite with other more useful features and post here, and compare results.

I placed the script in a try statement in case the user has any disabled settings in about.config. Otherwise I tested on every version of Firefox and it detects each one. I gave a brief description of what each feature is used for in the comments. I would like to do this for Webkit too but find the documentation not as good. Mozilla has easy to download previous versions and detailed releases.

geckodriver is not yet feature complete. This means that it doesnot yet offer full conformance with the WebDriver standardor complete compatibility with Selenium. You can track theimplementation status of the latest Firefox Nightly on MDN.We also keep track of known Selenium, remote protocol, andspecification problems in our issue tracker.

Support is best in Firefox 57 and greater, although generally the morerecent the Firefox version, the better the experience as they havemore bug fixes and features. Some features will only be availablein the most recent Firefox versions, and we strongly advise using thelatest Firefox Nightly with geckodriver. Since Windows XP supportin Firefox was dropped with Firefox 53, we do not support this platform.

Starting with the 0.26.0 release geckodriver is able to connectto Android devices, and to control packages which are based on GeckoView(eg. Firefox Preview aka Fenix, or Firefox Reality). But it also stillsupports versions of Fennec up to 68 ESR, which is the last officiallysupported release from Mozilla.

Firefox language on most operating systems is determined by the language you download the installer for. To switch language you will most likely have to download a different installer and install that version instead.

The language you download the installation for determines the language of Firefox on the majority of operating systems. You will most likely need to download a separate installer and install that version in order to change the language.

This schedule is based on the current RapidRelease plan. Future dates may change if the process changes. Code is not always released to users on the same day as the branch migration. The release to users may be a few days later, to allow for manual testing and sign-off. Thunderbird tracks the ESR schedule column per Thunderbird release info.

* The Nightly soft freeze is typically during the week prior to merge day. During this period high-risk patches should avoid landing until after the Nightly version bump lands on mozilla-central on merge day.

Given that, if you really want a column/Extension Attribute for this, its pretty easy to get just about any application or plugins version information from the Info.plist file inside the .app/Contents/ location.

Note that although most applications store their version info in the "CFBundleShortVersionString" location in the plist. some store it in just "CFBundleVersion" so you should test any scripts you make for other applications before making them into Extension Attributes.

Also note that the above will just return a blank result if Firefox isn't installed or happens to be in a different location than /Applications/ That can be accounted for, but not sure how much you were looking for here.

Edit: Josh.Smith's script account for that very scenario.

Yes, yes I know. The full version of Firefox has three number places. In my opinion I don't care 90% of the time about that. About 90% of the time I am looking at who has the major release versions. The few times I need to know the minor release version I am not relying on the EA to do it.
