You know, I'm feeling kinda dumb asking this, but... how can I best
convey what the user is about to agree to in an oauth handshake session?

I mean, I catch myself now wanting to use "login to x.y", or "sign in"
since it's not really an authz session.
But then again, the average user is familiar with the above.

In other words, I'm in a dire need of a shorthand for "click >ME< to
start an OAuth authentication process that will attach this app with
this other one you already use and like so much over there". ;)

Input? Laughter?

Stephane

Heh heh, probably the same overall crowd, but not the right list. This
was meant for the OAuth list... D'oh!

Messina collects user interaction screenshots here:

You should find plenty of inspiration. Also investigate authsub, flickrauth & bbauth clients.

Sorry for the delay, but this is a good question for this list.

You could say something like "Connect to your [ServiceName] account] or just "Associate your existing account" and then explain in smaller text what will happen on the next screen (managing user expectations is HUGE here).

Here's what iMovie does with YouTube:

There are other examples under 'authorization':

Thanks Chris.

I think, for now, we'll settle on "Connect to your Praized account"
and see how it goes.
It's a bit too long for my taste, but my taste isn't what's relevant
here, user traction is. ;-)

The rest of the flow is less nebulous, since there is indeed some
available prior art, but I was really in a jam for the one navbar-type
link that triggers the whole process.

Thanks for the feedback,

PS: I'll send a contextual link after July 9th, once our codebase is
released.
