Hi, i'm a newbie using dislin and need some help.

I installed all files from the iso as described
and tried to use dislin with my Borland C++ 5.01.
In any case - even with the dislin-distributed
batch file - i get the following message:

Fatal: Unable to open file 'uuid.lib'

After hours of searching in my installations and
with google i put the file 'disbcc.lib' in a
hex-editor and found the string 'uuid.lib'.

What does this mean?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

could it be that there is a problem in you BCC installation something like described here:
http://objectmix.com/xharbour/192814-borland-5-8-2-uuid-lib.html

Otherwise I would search for a file "uuid.lib" in your BCC installation folder.

When you have found it, does it help to put the "uuid.lib" library (with full path) into the BCC link command, e.g. line 52 in BCCLINK.BAT ?

Good luck !

Hi,

thanks for your answer.

I think that my Borland installation
is standard from CD and i work with
it about 20 years without 'uuid.lib'.

But I found many 'uuid.lib' files
in a visual C installation for
different platforms like x86, x64,
arm etc. and i tried them in my
Borland standard lib-path.

The new message is:

Fatal: Bad object file 'C:\BC5\LIB\uuid.lib'

Hi,

could it be that "uuid.lib" was only introduced into BCC with a later version ? According to the DISLIN readme the Borland distribution should work for BCC versions 5.x and 6 but maybe it expects at least 5.02 or 5.5 ?

I hope Helmut Michels, the DISLIN developer, can comment on this. And I fear you have to wait for his reply to solve your problem since I don't have a BCC installation for testing.

Cheers,
Armin

Ok,

the problem seems to be solved.

Downloaded the free Borland C++ 5.5 command line tools
and 'uuid.lib' was recognized.

Now i have to fight with command line parameters.

Hi Axel,

that's the Borland C++ version which I have used for compiling the Dislin code. Armin seems to be right
that your old Borland C++ version 5.01 is not working with Dislin.

With best regards,

Helmut
