Hi Xander
I doubt if, in this case, this will be the answer to your problems but so many strange happenings with Disklaviers have been cured by switching off the system and disconnecting the power supply completely by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for some time before reconnecting and rebooting, that it may be worth trying if you have not already tried this.   Otherwise, I leave it to those far more qualified than myself to suggest other possibilities.
Good luck
Owen

Subject: Ghost notes and "sensor led on error"

Hi all,
My 2000 Yamaha C2 with Mark III Disklavier has been displaying some weird behaviour.

Intermittently, when first turning it on after having been off for a few hours or more, it will emit a bunch of white/static noise over the built in speaker, and when turning the silent system on it will start playing a bunch of random notes at random intervals over the electronic sound systems.

After waiting for ~5 minutes and hearing all the “ghost notes” play out, it gradually becomes less until it stops altogether. When the ghost notes stop, the humming that comes out of the speaker also stops.

Furthermore the Disklavier control unit occasionally displays a “SENSOR LED ON ERROR !”, then switches to “please wait” and stays there indefinitely until it is turned off and on again. Sometimes after multiple restarts, the unit functions as intended.

After turning the unit off and on a few times, it will then work properly.

Any techies here with any input? Much appreciated!
