Hello there,

i'm the new owner of a MX100MR from 1990, i bought it because the piano was very nice but "as is" about the disklavier system wich wasn't started.
After few search i found there was a missing fuse. I changed it and tadaaa : the disklavier system started.
So here i am now, the system is booting, floppy disk seems to work (not sure).
My biggest problem is that the all system is fully Japanese(panel buttons and screen) and i don't understand a word of japanese. i tried to formatted the floppy disk by following instruction from the english manual from MX100A/B, everything looks ok but at the end the disk isn't formatted and i can't translate the message.
I also tried to start the midi system by following the english manual but the midi button doesn't light on when i push it.
My question is, is there any way to change the language, or is there any translation from the japanese sentences somewhere in the group?
Any help even on how to proceed to start midi, i maybe miss something.
thanks to all

You need to swap out the PROMs on the circuit board.  I found an English set of PROMS on Ebay or thru the forum about 10 years ago.

Not sure that they exist any longer.

Best of Luck

Until you can get a set of English PROMs, maybe try using the Google Translate app in camera mode to see if it can interpret the Japanese.  I've never aimed it at a low-res LCD display, but it works surprisingly well for Japanese desktop software.

Hello there,

I'm very happy, It works, i was unable to format the Floppy, then i understood it was an HDD floppy, so i use the tape trick (putting tape to simule a sdd floppy) i now can format and record piano, it's incredible. now my next step is to configure midi over bluetooth. I'll keep the group updated.
thanks to everyone for the help
