I have a DC2S MkII XG (5'8" upgraded to DKC-850).
When playing the piano in silent mode (using headphones), I notice that the sustain pedal is having no effect. I suspect it is a faulty sensor, but wanted to share what led up to this and get your opinion.

A few months ago, I took the plunge and bought a DKC-850. In retrospect, I should have done the upgrade years ago - but that's another story. Right before the holiday's, I had our local technician adjust the pedals, as the sustain pedal was making excessive thumping noise when in playback mode - something I never noticed with the original control unit. The technician determined the Lyre assembly was loose. He removed the Lyre, took it to their shop where he adjusted a shim, re-installed it then adjusted the dampers.  Long story short, it took two more visits for the pedal acton to be returned to normal.  For the last visit, the tech called Yamaha support who told him it was required to have the original DKC500R controller to be re-connected and run through the calibration mode. Fortunately, this did the trick and the 3 pedals worked for proper playback of recorded disklavier media. Except for manual play via silent mode. The silent mode issue stumped the tech and he said he would research this more and revert.

And running through more tests this morning, discovered sostenuto pedal is not working again (for manual play) Arrgghh - another tech visit now required.

Back to the silent mode issue, I suspected the sensor could be the culprit. So, I recorded my play including liberal testing of all 3 pedals.  When playing back what I recorded, I noticed only the soft pedal was playing back (solenoid pushing the pedal up and down). Could the sensor be bad or misaligned for the sustain pedal?  Or, could this be a configuration issue in setup?

Any guidance from the group is appreciated!

Grand piano damper and soft pedal adjustment are in the following order.

Sensor gain adjustment.L=1.5-2.0mm LED(red on) Sensing test(Pkctl test mode value L=040)
Adjustment of solenoid maximum stroke.L=15.0+-0.5mm
Adjustment of acoustic dumper pedal (gap of lifting rail=2.0mm
Adjustment of acoustic pedal (max and min point)
Adjustment of solenoid final point. 1.5+-0.5mm
Sensing test. (Pkctl test mode 100<L<040)

After that, measurement and setting are performed in the following maintenance mode.
Pedal measurement, half point setting (damper pedal only 1.5sec) .

Sostenuto adjusts by performing a sensor test from the test mode.

The same adjustment can be made with the DKC850, but the method of starting each item and the method of writing data are different. DKC500R is easier.

I guess it's better to do the keyboard measurement too.

Contact your Yamaha technician for details on adjustments, test, and maintenance mode.

Bonsoir,

Bonsoir,
Par avance, merci beaucoup.
L’installation de l’emulateur n’a malheureusement rien changé.
Bonne soirée
