Here's a long shot.

I recently sold my DKC-850 because I really just like the solo piano music and they are going for more than the original price.

But, on the DKC-850 I had a couple folders of Christmas music I liked, I can't remember where I got them.  Pretty sure I bought them on eBay.  One was Elegant Christmas, one was Classical Christmas, etc.   They were solo piano and I uploaded them to the DKC.

I have no idea what media they were on and can't find anything, but I did do a backup of the DKC unit before I sold it and it make a BIN file that I think has all the music on it.  But, none of the ways I have tried allow me to do anything with the file.

Anyone have an idea I could try?

Thanks!

Thank you for Googling, but that isn't related to Disklavier at all.

.BIN is a filename extension that can mean many different things depending on the company and application, but it typically refers to some kind of raw / low-level dump or "image" of a medium such as a disk or EEPROM.  To interpret the data, it's usually necessary to have some knowledge of what the corresponding physical device is (and in this case, its filesystem as well).  .BIN can also refer to simply a blob of binary data in some kind of proprietary format.  There are a couple of tech-savvy members of this group who might already know how to interpret this Yamaha-specific archive.

Actually it is related to the .bin file.  But as you are the one who backed it up, I am sure you will figure it out.  Good luck and sorry for trying to help.

If it's anything like the MarkIV backup file, and I can't see why it wouldn't be, it's very likely encrypted and tied to the specific DKC-850 that was used to create the backup.  In other words, mostly useless.

If this were me, I'd be looking for the original source of the MIDIs instead of trying to recover them from those BIN files.
