Found this quote and was reminded of a few others, relating to the Jungian concept of the shadow (those parts of us we don't want to own - ‘bring forth” -, but which we need to own and love and integrate if we are to be healthy and whole and avoid destroying ourselves and others. Lifelong hard work of the soul, not an easy or one-off exercise.)
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” Gospel of Thomas
“It is not our job to remain whole. We came to lose our leaves Like the trees, and be born again, Drawing up from the great roots.” Robert Bly, A Little Book on the Human Shadow
"We are lived by powers we pretend to understand:
They arrange our loves; it is they who direct at the end
The enemy bullet, the sickness, or even our hand."
