According to Space.com/Mars.vs.venus, Venus is the planet that would most harbor life forms currently. Space.com also says that Mars doesn't have water so landing there would not be beneficial. Mars also has a ring that makes landing there dangerous. (None of these statements are true... it is only an example of how to post. Do not use the statements as your response)

For one thing the gravity is greater on Venus than on Mars. Also it's typically cold on Mars while on Venus it's constantly hot! Also time goes shorter on Venus than on Mars hence Venus' short year.

On Venus, which is roughly the size of Earth and holding a very close amount of mass, it is always scolding hot and gravity is similar to Earth's. On Mars, however, it's colder and there is way less gravitational pull. " On top that, the gravity on Mars’ surface is much lower than it is here on Earth – 62% lower to be precise."-Matt Williams, Dec 16 of 2016, on the subject of Mars compared to Earth.

Landing on Venus would be better because it has a similar gravity to Earth and and a thicker, warmer atmosphere and a stronger magnetic field compared to Mars. https://www.space.com/5112-venus-mars-surprising-similarities.html

Venus provides a very thick atmosphere which would make it much easier to land on as Mars has very thin atmosphere making things a little harder. Also Mars has very cold temperatures where Venus is a more warm planet, also leaving it a little more dry. https://www.space.com/5112-venus-mars-surprising-similarities.html

with Venus having gravity more like ours it would make landing easier because of the understanding of the type of atmosphere we already have.

The gravity and temperature on the two planets are very, very different. The atmosphere is, in turn, very different as well. Venus obviously has a closer atmosphere to ours which would make it much easier to land there.

since mars is farther away from the sun it is colder than earth, while on the other hand Venus being closer to the sun it is hotter than earth. Venus however is similar in size and shape to the earth while mars is much smaller and therefore has less gravity.

the main differences is that Venus is extremely hot and thick atmosphere. on the other hand mars has a thin atmosphere and very cold. Venus days are close to one year while a mars day is closer to one day on earth.

We have previously sent robots to the surface of Venus but the gravity is so great that it crushes them before they touch the surface. Mars would have a longer year than Venus would since it has a longer revolution around the sun then Venus. Since Venus is closer to the sun it will be hotter and its atmosphere is toxic so sending man there would be quite impossible until future times unlike now where we are trying to send man to Mars.

Venus has a trickier environment to counter rather than Mars. Venus's current surface temperature is 850-900 degrees Fahrenheit. Venus also has an atmospheric pressure 92 times what Earth's is, and the atmosphere is rich with Carbon Dioxide. NASA has also prioritized finding life on other bodies, and Mars has been proven to have had liquid water on it at some point. Mars also has a more welcoming environment too for future manned missions. https://www.popsci.com/should-we-send-men-venus-instead-mars https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-confirms-evidence-that-liquid-water-flows-on-today-s-mars https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucedorminey/2017/04/06/nasa-crewed-mission-to-venus-would-pave-way-for-mars/

If you were to land on Venus, the temperature of the planet would be extremely hot compared to the cooler one of Mars, since it is closer to the sun and its atmosphere traps in the heat and toxic gases. On Venus, you'd also not see the sun set or rise, since one solar day on Venus lasts 117 days compares to Mars' 24 and a half hours. The last thing you might notice is that the crust of Venus is comprised of lots of molten mantle, while Mars' is very rocky and dry.

The fact that it crushed robots is pretty scary. It must be a reallly reallllly intense pressure there.

I think that because Mar's gravity is weaker compared to ours or Venus's, it allows us to save fuel with our current budget.

I agree that because Mar's solar days are closer to Earth's, it would be easier to research and compare results better with Earth.

it would be very difficult to make a spacecraft to withstand mars's harsh environment but also it has been a goal since the 1960 to have a manned mission to mars. https://www.popsci.com/should-we-send-men-venus-instead-mars

We could not survive on Venus' surface because the atmosphere is too pressure filled and crazy, however, according to Amy Sheira Teitel in her article Should We Send Men to Venus Instead of Mars? ""about 31 miles above the surface, Venus becomes almost Earth-like." This could be a safer option than trying to land on Mars in which many bad things could happen. Mars' surface is more habitable so landing there would make sense if trying to see if a living area could be made, whereas we can't live on Venus' surface. Mars is also closer so it would be cheaper and less time consuming than going to Venus.

According to https://www.space.com/5112-venus-mars-surprising-similarities.html Venus has a thicker atmosphere than Mars, which would make landing diffcult. The pressure on Venus is also much greater, you would need a to be able to with stand it. And because of Venus is much hotter temperatures the surface is more like molten lava compared to mars is red solid dusty surface.

The gravitational difference between Venus and Mars Is so different and also it would be hot on Venus compared to Mars being cold.

According to Air and Space article, Venus is the same size as earth, but it is very hot and the atmosphere is toxic, where Mars is farther but explored more. It has an easier atmosphere and terrain to explore as well. https://www.airspacemag.com/space/forbidden-planet-57795399/
