Maybe, due to the immense gravity the sun possesses, when the dust clouds finally coalesced, the balls of dirt were influenced more from the gravity of the sun making a terrestrial planet.

I think this has happened due to the gravitational field the Sun has set for itself so if we had Jovian planets near the Sun, their gravitational and well as magnetic fields would clash.

I believe its because gravity, the vacuum of space, and magnetic fields.

I think the size and gas of the jovian planets could be impacted by the sun's heat, so maybe if they were too close they would blow up.

i think the sun's gravity has brought planets that are relatively close to sun like earth even closer too the sun and it has pulled in some planets though i could be wrong cause suns gravity might not be effective on any of the planets because of the distance.

That sounds reasonable, size and gas of the Jovian planets could be effected by the sun's heat.

I agree with the other posts in that The gravity of the sun most likely drew rocks, And heavier objects closer to the sun and formed the terrestrial planets. That is the same with Gas giants/Jovian planets

Thats a pretty neat idea, It also makes quite a bit of sense.

I believe the reason for the terrestrial planets being formed closer to the sun is because the sun is so hot that it took the liquid that the planet was originally made of, and hardened it to where it was given a solid surface, which also shrunk the planets a bit. This can also apply to the Jovian planets, which since they are farther away, but not too far, have had the heat evaporate the liquid, turning it into gas, which would then cause them to gain in size and mass. Then for the other planets/moons that are frozen over, they're too far away from the sun so the liquid froze and turned it into a giant ball of iced-whatever.

Why is that? I don't think the sun has a strong enough magnetic field to draw metal closer to it at any real speed, otherwise i believe our planet, as well as others, would have gone into the sun long ago.

i think they formed further because they are smaller and have a smaller atmosphere, unlike the jovian planets have a bigger atmosphere that could be effected by the suns heat.

I agree and disagree, because yes, we would've been swallowed up by now if the Sun did have a very strong magnetic field, but the Sun is drawing the planets inward at a pretty slow rate, which is why the planets will be eaten up it.

You're not wrong, but the Sun is also growing in size, and it does pull in the Jovian planets, they are in the Sun's orbit.
