According to Space.com/Mars.vs.venus, Venus is the planet that would most harbor life forms currently. Space.com also says that Mars doesn't have water so landing there would not be beneficial. Mars also has a ring that makes landing there dangerous. (None of these statements are true... it is only an example of how to post. Do not use the statements as your response)

If you were to land on Venus you would notice the intense heat, the many mountains, crater, and volcanoes, and the thick atmosphere. Mars on the other hand would be significantly colder, with fewer mountains and volcanoes, and would have a much thinner atmosphere.

According to https://www.popsci.com/should-we-send-men-venus-instead-mars , the next manned space mission should be to Venus because is almost like earth in regards to the amount of sunlight, temperature, gravity, and the gases' altitude being able to support life. Unfortunately, Venus was described as "hellish and unwelcoming" due to its atmosphere. According to https://www.nasa.gov/vision/universe/solarsystem/mars_challenges.html , Landing on mars has its challenges when considering landing on the planet. The first reason of difficulty is simply described, "Getting to Mars is hard", because of where you actually have to land due to the depth of mars into the solar system. The environment is hazardous and the risks of landing on mars seem much more intense than landing on Venus.

Even though Venus has extreme temperatures, it seems to be able to support more forms of life, and the thin atmosphere would need for humans to adjust to life like living up on top of a mountain. Based on your descriptions of the two planets, which one really supports the most life based on location and the features the planet consists of?

I agree with the scientists that we should go to Venus first but there are a lot of risks for both landing on Venus and Mars. Venus is super hot but Mars can get super cold so I think Mars is better in the long run because we can't control heat.

On popsci.com it discusses sending people to Mars vs Venus. Venus doesn't have a very welcoming environment. Its surface temperature is above 900 degrees Fahrenheit and the atmosphere has about 92 times the pressure as Earth. To this day we do not have a way to land there safely. Mars on the other hand, has an atmosphere and constant state more alike Earth's. It's reasons like this that makes it logical to go there.

i agree that Venus has a very harsh environment, and Mars is much safer for landing. It would be incredibly dangerous to go to Venus.

I agree with you in the idea that Mars is the more logical planet to land on, but overall they both fall short in aspects that regard supporting forms of life.

Venus' atmoshphere is actually closer to Earth's but it is definitely way too hot to try to land on Venus so therefore Mars is the better option.

I slightly disagree i think mars is a much safer choice for a neighboring planet to be populated based on how intense Venus's atmosphere is, however Mars is nothing simple. We're very lucky to have adapted to Earth and hopefully the research will continue!

According to https://www.space.com/30276-venera-7-venus-lander-launch-45th-anniversary.html the landing on Venera 7 on Venus provided us with the information that Venus is a hot boiling planet at 887 degrees Fahrenheit (475 degrees Celsius) and had a wind speed of 5.6mph or 2.5mps. With Venera 13 https://www.space.com/18551-venera-13.html we got information from the spacecraft that Venus is seen as a yellowish color but it is hard to tell if that is its true color since the clouds have a blue filter.

According to https://www.space.com/18551-venera-13.html landing on Mars is difficult and two out of our last three have failed, this is due to the space environment not being friendly and there is a lot of hazards to be with landing on Mars including the chance of erasing all the data we have received from spacecrafts landing on Mars. Another challenge is due to the surface of the planet, Mars is a very rocky planet with lots of obstacles making it hard to land like cliffs, jagged boulders, craters, and other rock formations. Even before we land on Mars we need enough fuel to make it all the way to Mars and have enough to explore the planet.

I agree Mars would be a better option to support life or find life on since the temperatures of Venus are extremely hot, the only problem with Mars is getting spacecrafts to land on it since the planets is very rocky and has many obstacles it will make it hard to land.

I agree Venus' temperature is a main factor in supporting the factor it would be hard to find life on it, and with Mars we don't know if they can be life but seems more suitable for it than Venus, although our spacecrafts are having a hard time landing on Mars.

Landing on Venus is considerably cheaper than landing on mars; mainly based on the fact that Venus is closer to earth than mars is (Ramesh). However, we land on mars more than we land on Venus despite Venus being called earths "twin". We've landed on mars more to examine the soil; it is said to be able to sustain some form of life. In addition, Venus is extremely hot compared to mars which makes it easier to land on mars. https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Mars-explorations-outnumber-Venus-explorations-Venus-would-be-cheaper-more-earth-like-has-a-higher-chance-of-life-and-access-to-more-solar-energy

I agree. Additionally, there have been more mars landings than Venus landings based on these facts. Mars also has a soil composition that can sustain some form of life.

Mars is safer however, venus would be a cheaper option because of how close it is to earth.

According to http://astronimate.com/articles/living-on-other-planets/ Going to Mars is similar to earth it has the temperatures and atmosphere, we can get technology there fast. Going to Venus would be kinda hard because it is hotter than earth and it is mostly dark and the sky is hazy.

I agree Mars is safer to get to and you wouldn't have a lot to change like the atmosphere because it is similar to earth

we talk more about mars but it would be nice if we could see and do more on venus but it is too hot to live on

Research shows that Venus is very hot but very similar to Earth in the inside and Mars on the other hand, is much colder but also has many similar features to Earth such as clouds and wind. https://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/5-8/features/F_The_Planet_Venus_5-8.html

Agreed!! Venus would be way too intense and it seems that Mars is also very dangerous but easier to adapt to
