Hi
I am working with the native webrtc libjingle package and I notice many references to a 'cricket' namespace. What is this, and why is it named 'cricket'? Is it a reference to the sport or insects?

Regards,
William

The "three layers" aren't that well documented.  But if you go look at libjingle (https://code.google.com/p/libjingle/) or the copy at webrtc.org, you'll find a lot of code in the "cricket" or "talk_base" namespaces.  That's the middle layer.  Then you'll find code in the "webrtc" namespace used in the media/webrtc directory.  That's the lower layer.  Then you'll find code in the "webrtc" namespace use in the apps/webrtc directory.  That's the upper layer.

Yep. The current namespacing is as follows:

webrtc:: (API)
cricket:: (internal logic)
talk_base:: (utils)
webrtc:: (engines; this may change in the future to avoid confusion)

"cricket" is an internal codename that predates webrtc. Named as such "because it makes sound"
