Is there any update on when the device permissions "infobar" will be included in the Mac and Linux versions of Chrome Canary? Currently the infobar has been available on Windows Chrome Canary since 19.0.1057, but as of today (20.0.1099) no permissions dialog or infobar appears on Mac (or Linux, I assume). See http://www.webrtc.org/blog/infobarforcameraandmicaccess

A few other questions:
- Will users be able to say which camera/microphone is their preferred device and have that information saved for when the they return?
- Will the permissions infobar appear each time getUserMedia is called, or will there be an option to save access permissions per website?
- Will users be able to change the device to another camera/microphone after a call to getUserMedia? How is this handled in JavaScript?
- Will users be able to revoke access to a device, similar to how location is handled in Chrome by clicking on the location icon that appears in the address bar?

Many thanks,
Paul.

The infobar appears on Linux (compiled from source)..... that's the

OK good to know. Mac Canary 20.0.1099 still doesn't have the infobar yet. Any news?
Thanks,
Paul.

We're currently working on the infobar for OS X and will upload a patch soon. I'll update the thread once the patchs is committed.

And to comment on the other questions.

- Will users be able to say which camera/microphone is their preferred device and have that information saved for when the they return?

This is being discussed, but nothing is settled.

- Will users be able to change the device to another camera/microphone after a call to getUserMedia? How is this handled in JavaScript?
It is possible to call getUserMedia to open a new device, remove the first from the peer connection object and add the new device.

- Will users be able to revoke access to a device, similar to how location is handled in Chrome by clicking on the location icon that appears in the address bar?
This is still being debated as well.

See public-med...@w3.org for more discussions regarding this.
