Flash Servers As A Service : http://influxis.com

This way you will have the 3 Flash protocols as backup solutions : RTMFP (P2P), RTMP (Streaming through the server), RTMPT (Tunneled RTMP).
That is how it works on http://bistri.com

The issues you're seeing with Tokbox are kind of fundamental to Flash. I don't think you're going to see better performance in any Flash-based solution.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that some of the "pretty exciting to announce" later stuff is now publicly available. You can now implement one API and get the best of whatever is available for those connected: WebRTC or Flash. Try out the demo! Let me know what you think. http://labs.opentok.com

Miro, we aren't exactly the biggest fans of Flash here at TokBox either. That being said, we really do want to try to make the performance of using it for video streaming as great as possible. Its sort of like fighting in a boxing match with one hand tied behind your back. So basically Jason is right, and if you find that for your use case you are getting exceptionally bad quality, come talk to us, we'll try and see what exactly is happening.

Bryan brings up a good point. We are working on enhancements to OpenTok that will allow developers to write their application code to the same API and we can feature detect the capabilities of all the browsers/devices in a session and try to use WebRTC when possible, and seamlessly fallback to Flash if necessary. All of this is still sort of half-baked because the WebRTC implementations are still sort of buggy. Hopefully by the time WebRTC hits mainline Chrome we will have something pretty exciting to announce :D.

I think that a WebRTC plugin for browsers that do not [yet] implement the native WebRTC stack would be a major driver of adoption -- I believe that we need this as an alternative, and I'm hoping that one will be made available.

Many of my users are unwilling to install a new browser, but an add-on to their current browser is something most they would be willing to do.

Hi,

Are you still involved in developing webrtc? Let me know as there may be an opportunity.

Thanks
Colm

You guys can check https://www.axlator.com for better support in Desktop OS and Mobile OS.
We have used WebRTC along with some supporting libs for browser supports.
